Re: I am becoming a believer

Looks like the only missing piece in your quest for more is deleting the factory cats is all. I went Helix, but some guys want resonated test pipes to insure the lack of raspiness. The group buy gives access to both types if you're interested in going the test pipe route.

UR crank pulley
Helix test pipes
G35C midpipe
Z intake tube
Nismo Sport "dry" air filter
Nismo grounding kit
RS*R Z33 springs
Hawk HPS brake pads
Motul 600 RBF

Re: I am becoming a believer

"The time is dead on with what I ran at the track pre Crawford and TS ECU Reflash, but the MPH is insane."

The reason for the higher mph when using the G-Tech, is because the unit takes the mph at the very end of the run. At the track they take an average of the last 60 feet. In other words, if you hit the next to the last sensor at 96 mph and the last sensor at 100 mph, your timeslip will show a reading of 98 mph. The G-Tech will show as 100 mph. Other than that, they are fairly accurate devices for 1/4 mile times.

(I know it's not the most technically correct analysis as far as the track computing mph, but it's the best way that I can explain it.)

My whole thing is anti exhaust noise...b/c you really can't control it like you can with a CAI...I would have to listen to someone's car in person to know if I would ever go beyond the Coupe Midpipe.

Re: I am becoming a believer

You are correct...and I knew this from way back 5 years ago when I got my GTech...it was part of their selling MO. ;-)

I actually thought it was more than the last 60 ft, but who cares, the point is that the GTechs are supposed to be plus or minus a 10th or 3 mph from what I hear when you are truly measuring the 1/4 mi. Even if you take off the 3 mph I am doing over 100 mph in a 4 door automatic Sedan...which is ridonkulous! Woohoooooooo!!!

Re: I am becoming a believer

Well, here is my nightly update on my #%$@* quest for a 13.99 in my 5AT Sedan.

(3) 1/4 Mile Runs with the same 16" Tire and Rim package I ran a 14.29 at 96.40 in April, 2004.

Run 1: Manumatic Mode, Brake Torque to 1500...Holy $hit...the car layed down rubber through 4 Grand on the tach and had to be shifted into 4th (This kills me) and I ran an almost identical 14.19 @ 104 MPH...so I gained 1 MPH, but lost two tenths...and I lost it all in smoke off the line and in that $^#*& shift to 4th due to these tires being shorter...thus effecting my effective rear gear ratio and causing higher RPMs to necisitate a [censored] to 4th.

Run 2: In a different spot and this time I left it in 3...0-60 was a svelt 5.72 Seconds...but the 1/4 mi (again I had to still shift into 4th) was only a 14.34 @ 103.9...this time I launched from an even idle too...

Run 3: Back to the spot I did run 1 in and I overcompensated for my wimpy Run 2 launch and ignited the tires through 5500 RPMs...no embelishment...I felt like I was in my Mustang...and this yieled another 14.19 at 103.7...

So, in conclusion...this car definitely has more power now, b/c even in the cold weather it never did burn outs like this...now I am lol at myself saying "Well you wanted no bog and now you got too much juice in the launch..." So I may have to bring both sets of tires to the track in the fall and screw around with the lighter ones in front (BTW the winter tire package saves 10lbs [45 vs 55] at each corner) and the taller ones out back so as to keep it in 3rd through the whole run and try and launch perfect...In any case, I have everything I wished for now...the opportunity to run a 13.99 and plenty of BS/Stupidity to screw around with trying to get there...lol

Re: I am becoming a believer

I am not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet, but if they did, please disregard what I am about to say.

The gtech is very optimistic on its MPH readings. I would not believe those at all. Take about 2-3 mph off that is what your real readings are. The gtech is only good if you used it when stock, then added a mod or two, and run again to see if anything changed. The 1/4 time of the gtech is almost dead on with what you would get at the track.

Re: I am becoming a believer

I already knew that, but the great part is...if you take 3 mph off all my runs I am still running over 100 mph in a 5AT which is nuts...I am going to tru and go to the track tomorrow if it's nice out and see what's up.

I already left a message, with no call back in 3.5 hrs, for the Dyno shop in Worcester, MA. I noticed on their website that there is a Neon SRT-4 Dyno Day on the 31st...maybe I can piggy back off that or something?

Re: I am becoming a believer

Might be worth a try. I can't wait to see your dyno and what you actually run at the track. You might have a real freak vq.
as per my sig you see what I run with my 6mt. Still not the best driver, but good times and a very good dyno.

Re: I am becoming a believer

Now that everyone knows these things need at least 12K on the motor to be fully awakened we are seeing a lot of nice times (MODERATORS PLEASE GIVE US A 1/4 MI SECTION)...yours are great...and once you get that launch down...adn the temps fall during Sept-Oct...who knows...
