Because it sounds like crap without some sort of resonator in place.

The video that one guy has on here sounds pretty mean.

Darrick, I was under my car today and saw that on the right side there is just a black plastic cover right about where I'd want to put the exhaust out. I was to lazy to take the bolts off and look to see what was under there, so maybe you could tell me?
I believe on the passenger side, behind that black cover, is the EVAP canister. The guys who run dual mufflers usually relocate the canister to the spare wheel well.

You're both right. It sounds mean and like crap. But I gotta agree with DaveB, it's gonna sound bad at almost any RPM. Sounding mean would be a nice option if you could turn on or off, but over time the lack of a resonator is going to get pretty annoying. Personally, I'm going to add an HKS Sport muffler and be done with my exhaust.

I am going with a resonated straight through pipe from magnaflow. Should be in tomorrow or Wednesday, I'll have some video clips up right after that.

Btw, that's an 06 in the video. Which means it has an 05+ mid pipe. Making it sound sicker than it would with my car. I have the fat mid pipe and toaster muffler.

So get an HR Y-pipe, Sedan middy, and that muffler and you'll sound very much like it.

I think some just have to go though the process before they figure out what they want. At least this experiment is revatively cheap. I gambled with my exhaust mod but felt I came out on top in both torque(increase) and sound (reduction)

I would not delete the resonator because it is going to sound like a fart can. You don't want to attract the wrong attention.

I'm not deleting it, I am putting a straight through resonator in there.

Similar to this, can't find the actual one on the site.

If it sounds like pure **** I'll continue the search for a coupe/Z mid pipe and deal with it for a little while.

I had a similar idea. Do it! Vibrant makes 'em, too, and they may be local-ish to you. (Mississauga)

I looked at some vibrant pieces, might get some of there stuff later on down the road.

You seem to be the only one encouraging me haha, we'll see how it goes. You win some you lose some, I might win big here or sound like a ricer for a week or two.

I just like spending your money. But srsly, I like to see the EM modded is all, it'll be interesting to see where we both end up.

Hey man, nobody's really discouraging you, we're just giving feedback and insight from our own experiences. And Jeff92 had it right, your experiment isn't very expensive. You can find a mid-pipe, Sedan or Coupe, if you're willing to be patient and look in a lot of places. This is my "home" forum, but I regularly check out G35Frenzy, G35NYC, My350Z, and Nico Club looking for items for sale. There are a few others as well.

And try Craigslist. I got my HR Y-Pipe from there. It had about 50 miles on it. Guy was a Nissan tech and had pulled it off his new 350Z and it was just sitting in his garage until his wife made him start selling all his extra parts. Pipe + install by him for $100.

BTW, my comments about sounding mean were half compliment and half warnings. The compliment is it sounds bad*ss. The warnings are you may get tired of it down the road, and you might get a ticket for it if Officer Bacon is in a bad mood.
