Key Fob Help!

My car came with a key, and no keyless entry remote, so a few days ago, I ordered a remote off ebay. I liked the look of the new 2005-2006 silver and black keys with the silver buttons, but is it possible that my car is not equipped to recognize its signal, as opposed to the standard black fob? I tried reprogramming it, key in six times, flashes, but then when I push a button on the fob, nothing happens.

Any ideas?

sounds like you bought an I-key which uses a different signal than the standard key fob. If you have the intelikey system you would need to have the dealer program it. If you have an 05+ and have the intelikey system, you would have a little black button on outside front door handles, and a plastic key **** ignition. Try getting a standard fob.

You bought an I-key, which only works on cars equipped with the I-key system

You need to buy a fob with the same model as the one you have now.

Damn, but they're so lame looking! Do I just have to suck it up and deal with an ugly remote+key?

Yup, unless you want to do one of those flip key thingys.

When i was G shopping, it had to have the I-key. That and NAV were two options i needed to have. Honestly, it rocks never having to take the key out of your pocket
