Hey Everyone,

So I'm getting this HORRIBLE creaking noise coming from my rear deck. It seems to only happen in the morning when the car is still cold. When it's been sitting outside for awhile or later in the day when it's warm, I don't hear it at all.

When I bought the car, it had the issue of the rear cross bar (behind the seat) making horrible noises, but my friend and I fixed that.

This one sounds more like it is coming from back in the deck or from the window area. Anyone have any ideas on what is causing me to want to light the car on fire?

take out back seats, and c pillar trims to remove the rear shelf.

insulate all contact points with felt tape.

if you're lucky you're still under warranty.

 

there was a TSB on this - I had mine done about 4 yrs ago... you might want to look it up and see if the dealer will honor it.

 

actually that only applies from 2003-2004.

 

also, that bulletin has you apply felt tape to the inside upper trunk finisher. this is found in the trunk.

 

What I’m referencing is the “rear parcel shelf” – what I figured you referenced… when I have time I’ll look up my old invoice and the TSB.
