Downgrading from HID to Halogen

Downgrading from HID to Halogen
I had my lights stolen, and finally got the insurance to pay after 2 weeks.
I was wondering if I could simply replace the Xenon lights with the "cheaper" Halogens.
Are the plugs the same?
I'm going to order the parts myself and have a friend of my father do the body work.
Thanks for any help

Re: Downgrading from HID to Halogen
I'm sorry dude, had it happen a month after having my car. I wouldn't do the HID swap, and I'll explain why: I guarantee the thieves are basing the halogen vs HID theft on the trunk lid (remember only the 03's had halogen standard with the old trunk handle and all) so it would probably be an effort to do it and then they might steal your halogens too. Anyways, I had to get a super alarm that ran me about $800 installed with proximity and all to thwart theives. Sucks.. but its alot better than paying my deductable again. Sorry I feel your pain man!

Yeah, I guess I feel happier myself about having the doggie door. Actually, I like the doggie door, but HIDs would have been nice. At the end of the day though, I'm more stoked about having a sweet ride than having a headlights which "cast a cool blue hue of light on the road." It don't really matter especially since you can order HIDs on an Altima.

Re: Downgrading from HID to Halogen
Don't mean to hijack this thread but...
I know what you mean about the newer trunk style, and how you have to touch the trunk lip to open it. I was somewhat concerned about my ring [or anyone else opening the trunk that was wearing a ring] would possibly end up scratching up the lip. My solution was to have a piece of clear bra run along the lower lip that wraps around the edge. So far that seems to be working fine.

Re: Downgrading from HID to Halogen
Check out this thread... he is doing the opposite but some of the info should be relevant. From the electrical diagram it appears the plug is the same, although I don't know about resistance, voltage, etc. You might want to email him to see if it worked....I think it should.

HID's are waay better. you can see so much more. it isnt just for the color. if it was just for color you could just get those cheapo bulbs and be done with it.

Re: Downgrading from HID to Halogen
I went ahead and picked up the parts I needed today at the dealership (both headlights and front bumper cover).
I was able to pay for it through my business (Gas Station) so they were 20% under list price and no tax.
I'll still have a couple of bucks left over from the insurance payment (even with the $500 deductable).
My main reason for looking at the halogens was to save money, but since I can do the Xenons without having to take money out of pocket I'd rather keep the HIDs
Thanks for the responses

Re: Downgrading from HID to Halogen
First if they stole the entire headlight, and you don't want HID again you will have to buy the 03 non xenon Headlight and use Halogen Bulbs. That would be cheaper.
If you have the HID Headlight and they just stole the HID Ballast, HID Bulb and Wires, you have to buy all these parts because Halogen Bulbs won't fit on the Xenon Headlight.
Same happen to me I wanted to upgrade the halogen to HID
The headlight housing is not the same, HID bulbs didn't fit on my Headlight..
I bought a HID conversion type bulb H1. I have the '03 trunk and I bought an HID conversion Kit looks great.
Suggestion do not downgrade to halogen If they stole the entire Headlight Look on Ebay I have seen the entire HID headlight with ballast and Xenon bulbs for a good prices .
