Noob question...I read the FAQ.

I am looking at an 03 sedan w/ a manual 6speed. the car has 53,000 miles and the price is 15,900. I feel like the price is a little high for the age an mileage, but its carmax and they wont neg. I also feel like the manuals are rare so it may be worth it. My question is: Is the transmission and rear the same or as strong as the coupes? What is the weight difference between the two? I would rather have a coupe but nice ones seem to be out of my price range. thanks -J

I understand from the FAQ that the engines are the same. So what do you attribute the difference in HP to? Is it simply the tune on the car? or do the sedans have different injectors, cams, intakes, TB, comp ratio? what would it take to bring the sedan's numbers up to the coupe's? The plenum spacer and a tune? or more?

Sedan is actually a little lighter than the coupe. As far as I understand everything else is the same mechanically. What options does the car have? Sedans FTW!! They have the same horsepower ratings also. There is much speculation as to the ratings of the 1st gen cars. Tests have shown comparable results between 1st and 2nd gen sedans and coupes.

I drove the car and really liked it! Where I live, the coupes are every where. I passed 4 in a city block on my way back from carmax, haha. I think it would be cool to have a sedan that was just as quick or close. May be a bit of a sleeper. I dont want to have to do a bunch of expensive mods to make it as good though. I would like to do exhaust and a few bolt ons, than add FI later. I rode in a 350z once w/ a vortec and its was quick enough for my taste, so if I could have that in a sedan i would be happy.

Marketing. You might stretch it a little and say the coupe has a less-restrictive exhaust, but that may not even be true. I think they just couldn't bring themselves to rate the sedan at the same hp as the coupe. JOM, so take it for what it's worth.

The biggest IMO hold back against a sedan is the lack of body kits...Thats it! and even than the Nismo kit looks sooo good it never gets old. I love my sedan for its function and form.

I am surprised its lighter w/ the addition of of 2 more doors and probly bigger back seats, but thats awesome. It does not have navi, but it did have leather, power everything, in dash CD changer, and Bose. It also had a rear spoiler similar to the areo on the coupes, but I did not recognize a bumper or side skirt similarity. It is silver w/ some fairly decent alum wheels, not as nice as the coupes of coarse. The HP/TQ numbers were listed as 260/260, I thought the coupes had 270-290HP. Consumer reports also says the 0-60 times are quite faster for the coupe, so I assumed the sedan was heavier...

So your saying Nissmo is one of the only companys producing body kits? I probly wouldnt go to the trouble, I like the way it looks now. A chin spoiler might be nice. Got a link or pic you could share of the nissmo kit installed? thanks

Are the manuals really that rare? what do you think of the price on this car, based on the options and stuff?

found a pic nevermind. It looks good but not enough difference for me to go to the trouble.

More than likely the sedan that was tested was an auto. Just search on the forum for nismo sedan's. There are many many pictures as it was an option from the dealership. Also check the sedan section as a forum member makes custom parts also. The 03 - 04 modles have more aftermarket support for the exterior than the 05 - 06 models. The coupes do have a more free flowing exhaust than the sedans..but the aftermarket takes care of that. Again check the sedan section as there is a post for modifications from intake to forced induction. IMO the price seems slightly high. but than again I paid 18k for my 05 G35X with 42000 miles last year because it was a one owner car that was maintained properly. If you don't like the price than hold out and keep looking. Biggest advice I can give is do not rush into buying the car as there is always another one out there. oh yeah welcome to the forum.

3336lb for the sedan, 3416lbs for the coupe. From what I've read, the reason the coupe is heavier is actually because of the two doors; they had to be reinforced to make crash standards.

Nismo sedans are easy to find on this site.

That's a positive in my book. Less chances for someone to ruin a nice car with tacky mods.

(my opinion of course)

^ +1. u and i are on the same page there. i can't stand gawdy kits. that's for civics imo.

OP - 6MT sedans comprise only ~5% of the production numbers, so they can be somewhat hard to find. except on this forum, where you'll find a disproportionate number of 6MT coupes and sedans in the marketplace for some reason.
