Just checked my gas mileage

Took a trip and checked my gas mileage. Mostly highway miles a few local miles. 22 miles per gal. My G35 has 800 miles on it.

Re: Just checked my gas mileage

That's about right.
I got the same on mostly highway.
It has dropped to around 19 driving in rush hour stop and go lately.

Re: Just checked my gas mileage

That's pretty good for steady speed on hwy. Is that about 70-80 mph? It seems to fall off a lot when speed rises above 65-70 mph. I got my best Sedan mileage in the 65 - 70 mph range.
You can expect it to rise a little from there, IMO, once fully broken in.

Re: Just checked my gas mileage

Just got back from a 1300 mile trip. Average speed of 70mph and got 24mpg. Not bad. Now I have to go disconnect the battery to reset the computer, G seems real sluggish in normal traffic now after all those highway miles.

Good mileage bro. Yeh it seems you have to 'horse it' some to keep the learning algo in 'tune'.

Re: Just checked my gas mileage

Nissan's are not know for the gas milage. Also add in the gearing is set for performance not fuel milage. I've only filled up once and got 16.7 mpg. I'm halfway thru my 2nd tank of gas now and it looks like i'm on target for 17 mpg. Seems this car drinks gas like it has a 300 hp engine. As i've mentioned before i'm pretty disapointed in this aspect of the G35. I think they could of atleast got the city milage up to around 20-22 mpg. especially since we have to use premium gas

As it is now, were getting the same gas milage as SUV's

Pesti: If you want better highway mileage, try slowing down a little. Say, 70. I know, not nearly as fun, is it?

Tim: Nice signature image... "hosted by Tripod." What sort of statement are you trying to make there?

Re: Just checked my gas mileage

im getting around 16-17 mpg, but i forgot one thing to make sure my tires were all filled up, make sure all tires are equal, and not too under the max...it will increase gas mileage, so far ive gotten it up to 20 mpg

Re: Just checked my gas mileage

Pesti, once you get much over 70 mph, mileage drops off big time. You'll get your best at 65-70 but that's a snails pace right? BOOOORRRRIIIIINNNGGGGGG.

Re: Just checked my gas mileage

Maybe next to you guys I drive like a granny, but that's not what my siblings, wife and in-laws think. When I drive 90% highway at 80-85 mph, I consistently get 21-23 mpg.

I feel sorry for you guys who only get 17 or so on the highway. I pass other cars on the road and hardly ever get passed myself, so I think I drive more aggressively than most, and still get 22mpg. Maybe it's the gas; I use Chevron 93, exclusively.

Re: Just checked my gas mileage

Just finished my first longish highway trip in my G35 sedan with about 2000 miles on it. Averaged around 23 mpg. That's going 60-80 with a fully loaded trunk, the wife, and two kids. I was impressed. I get 17-18 mpg around town on my commute.

Re: Just checked my gas mileage

Chinee,
Where do you get 93 at? Here in Cali we only have 91. Unless if you want to Pay $$$ at Unocal for 100....
