you can put a timing light on these engines, where will it hook up to... no wires, everythign is electronically controlled. A tune is worth every penny of it with some mods but it should be done as your LAST mod, otherwise your just wasting money getting it retuned if you go with new parts and etc. Car was tune to begin with from the factory, its only fitting that you change up some things, that you should change the tune as well to see the max output.

Flash tune is decent but its always on the conservative side. Getting a dyno tune will almost always yield higher gains and a safer tune, since its catered to your car and not a general number.

 

They will usually ask you to list your specific mods so they can tune it as accurately as possible.
