squeaking sounds when the car has a cold start
hi everybody. Recently I noticed my car starting to make a squeaking sounds in the morning when i turn on the engine. The noise is more obvious when i put the gear to Drive. It will go away after it's warmed. I called the infiniti dealer, they said something about the timing belt has a crack in it, but after i google around i found the G35 has the timing chain that doesn't require maintenance. Can you guys give me some thoughts on it? Thank you very much. It's a 2004 G35 Sedan.
Mine "squeaks" too. I'm pretty sure its an auxiliary belt. I'm due for mine to be done so I wasn't to concerned. Mine also goes away after the engine is warm. Pop the hood and start the car up. You should be able to pinpoint the noise. Yes, we've got chains!!
take it to a local repair shop and have them tighten it or replace them if they are getting old. They shouldn't cost too much. Should be around $100 - $150 to replace both belts including labor. Don't know about dealer rates though.

Thanks davdim99 for the info. I will take a deep read into it.
10nara the Dealer rate is going for $205 with parts and labor in southern california area, he said he will also check up the car see if it needs extra maintenance. Still debating which one should i go.

i would just replace the belts if it has been over 2 years since it was done. If you dont know when it was last done, just replace them. Its quick and easy. About 15-30 min even if its your first time.
Lol, are you serious? 15-30 mins? I thought I need to take the whole bumper and radiator off to actually see the belt. Can you send me a installation on it? Thank you very much.
