Good idea... 8" sub...
higher resistance sounds better to a point generally, but it takes more power to drive it to the same dB level as a lower resistance coil. It could be done on a non Bose system, I believe it may even be easier to upgrade than the bose.

Thanks! Would I need to buy the bose piece to hold the speaker in the back?
Im not familiar with where the speakers are located on the non-Bose system, but if there's not a speaker already there, then the hole still may exist from Infiniti trying to save dough on manufacturing processes. If the hole's not there, you could always cut one out and make a surface to mount to. Most 8" subs will have a similar drilling diameter for mounting, it may vary slightly but it shouldn't be a big deal to drill new holes in the shelf.
Anyone know simply just swappign the sub will do any good without having to power it up with a better aftermarket amp?
I think this is the key. If it was a direct swap using the factory amp, I would consider it. I'm not going to mess with wiring in an aftermarket amp because it's just not worth it to me. I did a little research on Google and found that JL used to make an 8" Infinite Baffle (basically free air) subwoofer, but the model was discontinued and is next to impossible to find now. I wonder if this is what skull_leader used.
I feel like my radio sounds better.....but it could be the placebo effect or just because I'm getting better sound input through my ipod.
