eibach springs...
eibach springs...
sup G's...i know this was brought up a few times in earlier threads. But, i am considering buying the eibach springs for my G-Sedan. I have the sport tuned suspension. If i replace the springs with the eibach ones...will it make it better or worse? Advantages and disadvantages? Does anyone have a pics with the springs installed on their car? i wanna see the difference. Thanks.

Re: eibach springs...
I have a feeling this one may get moved to the suspension thread. but...here ya go:
My car is on the left, and the stock sedan is on the right. (I also have the NISMO body kit)

my car is also the sedan at the top of this page on the website's masthead.
I have the sport suspension. The ride is stiffer, and after almost a year I do hear more road knows when I hit bumps (eibach's actually settle a little lower than their claims.)
Mostly, i like the look of bringing the body down an 1"... makes it look much more aerodynamic and sportier.
Cheers, ted

Re: eibach springs...
my expirence with eibach springs has been mixed. I had them on a Mustang I used to have and liked them. I currently have them on Taurus SHO. They give the car a cooler stance. initially they are softer than stock then firm up as the spring compresses. it's somewhat disconcerting at first.
I don't think I would change the springs on my G. the sport suspension seems stiff enough. The G with a body kit is low and any lower would mean scraping everywhere.

Oh ya... you will scrape the nose on sharp driveways, inclines and parking headstones.
However, I have only scraped on a speed bump, hump or drainage rut once or twice in the time I have had the car... and that was when i had a full tank, 4 adults and a trunk filled with Costco goodies.

Re: eibach springs...
I decided to go with the coupe set up, found them for about
200$ and should lower the car about an inch with keeping
the same ride, hopefully a little firmer but might be best to check on the suspension forum, unfortunately I have not had a chance to get them on the car yet.

thanks for the pics and feed back. On twists and turns, will the car perform better than the stock sport suspension? i can tell the car look better a little lower though!

Re: eibach springs...
Well, the lowered center of gravity will help the car to a degree. However the springs progressive nature + the sport shocks lack of control will enhance poor weight transfer control. I've seen sedan's with the Eibachs on with the sport suspension in action, squat and brake dive are real issue's for the performance minded. Part of the problem is the fact that Eibachs development car was a non sport.
If the springs were not progressive and only rode on their peak numbers, things would be totally different. Progressive springs tend to make weight transfer control worse. And as the car enter's a corner, each side of the car is on wholly different spring rates. If you encounter a bump mid corner your suspension can yaw on differing spring rates and cause the car to spin or come out, this also worsens you ability to rain the car back in. As a example, let's look at a oem sport sedan in a corner and what poundage the springs leverage to the suspension. Oem springs do not have this problem because they are linear.
Oem sport sedan in left hand corner
LF 314 RF 314
LR 342 RR 342
Sedan w/Eibach springs (reverse numbers for right hander)
LF 259 RF 334
LR 359 RR 413
If you want a performance spring for the sedan, the best you can do are RSR springs ment for the 350Z, they will lower the sedan 1.6" however.
345/417
Next up would be Tein H-tech's ment for the 350Z, they would lower a sedan 1.3"/1.2"
358/375 (front's are progressive however, rears are linear)
Keep in mind that the oem sport shocks need to be taken off and replaced to really kick the car up a notch. I've had resevations in the past about the Koni's for these cars, due to some recent conversations with a few people, I have to say I've lifted those reservations.

Re: eibach springs...
I have purchased the springs and shocks from a coupe and
I believe they are linear, did see some issues with Eibach
so was scared off, and the complete Z350 set up would be too
bouncy for me so thought the coupe set up would lower the car about an inch and keep the same ride and maybe a little
firmer which is what I'm looking for at the moment..

Re: eibach springs...
I have the Eibach's with sport suspension. The ride quality is really about the same. It lowered the car nicely and the handling I would say is about the same, too. No problems scraping the front and I have the Nismo bumper. If I had to do it all over again I might go with the RSR's; they seem to bring the car to an equal height front to rear. I think the Eibach's are slightly too low in the rear.
