* VENT HEAT *

OK, I know this has been on here before but I have come up totally empty using the search feature.

What is up with the "hot vent exhaust ?"

I recall seing a picture that someone posted of the vent pipe running by some coil, heating the air. What was the fix ?

I like to use the manual mode and just have the fan blowing
some fresh air but it's always a bit too warm.
Please help. Thx...RJP

Re: * VENT HEAT *

That's not exactly what happens to me, but whenever im running my car hard there's alwasy hot air being let out of the vents without any air on fromt he engine and its real hot lol!! Sucks because I still didn't get my AC fixed from my intake in this summer heat.

Re: * VENT HEAT *

I also get warm to hot air coming out of the vents. When the entire system is off, and you push mode, my vents open up. The fan is not going until you push the fan button up. Either way, with or without the fan on, warm air seems to come from the vents. It is random. Sometimes it is cool air. It does not seem to be regulated by the thermostat. It can be very hot outside and sometimes it is warm air and sometimes it is cool air. It doesn't make a difference if the car engine is warm or cold. So I don't think it is the duct work under the hood as someone suggested. The dealer, of course says it is fine. If you turn it off and on, sometimes that helps. Sometimes turning on the a/c then turning it off helps too. I have tried to reproduce it, but it is just random....

I believe it was determined that our Gs turn off the A/C under
WOT, could be that you are always WOT and noticed that
A/C was off. Does it come back when you granny the car?

Re: * VENT HEAT *

Nope.......the warm to hot air is always there.
It's much warmer than the outside temperature.
I can't believe that all this warm air comes from
holes in the battery compartment. I'd really like to fix this problem. I've had many cars that seemed to blow colder than normal air but never ever warmer.

Re: * VENT HEAT *

I also used to get warmer than normal air coming thru the
vents when no A/C was on. Then I followed the DIY guide
to fix the problem. The air is now much closer to outside
temp. Have you visited the DIY forum yet and done the fix?

Don't you think the dealership should fix this problem and not us?

Re: * VENT HEAT *

This has been an extremely irritating problem with my G for as long as I have owned it. I have taken it back to my dealer twice. Both times they pretended that the problem didn't exist and they claim there is no fix in their Infiniti data base. Supposedly, there is nothing they will do for me.

But my experience is that I cannot run the vent without the air conditioning when the outside temp is in the 60's or 70's because the air is VERY warm. This REALLY spoils the nice-day-driving-around experience.

Re: * VENT HEAT *

I too experience this when I turn the A/C button off with auto on. When it happens, I tend to play with my thermostat a little and I usually get it right. It's a slight pain but I think I know what's happening. when the warm air comes in, the engine heat is dissapating in through the vents through the engine compartment. With the thermostat, the air coming in while auto is off is being compensated by the engine heat. Once the engine cools a bit, the temperature of the air coming in cools as well and replicates the outside temperature. Last night I was at a Sox game and coming home it was about 58 outside (cool for a July night in Chicago). I had the temp set to 71 and auto off. The air coming in was hot at first but once I got on the highway, it cooled off nicely and was very comfortable. When I was going to the game, it was about 74 outside and traffic was all stopped up. the car was running hot because of the congestion. I had the temp set to 76, auto off and all hot air was blowing in a ton! I turned the temp down to 73 and cool air crept in. I also got off the expressway and took side streets. The point is this, the outside air comes in when the car is moving. Sometimes I have to set the temp 5-7 ddegrees above the outside temp to get it to work. Sometimes a degree or two lower, it all depends. I truly think this is a learned process and even though there's a mod to correct this, there's a reason for it. The VQ35DE engine runs very hot and needs to cool off. If you play with your temp and make sure you're moving, you'll find the right setting to bring in the outside air. If you can't move, open the windows and turn the air off!
