Angry radio & a/c panel lights & switches not working !

this is crap !

so this problem seems to come and go. The lights on the buttons are out for the a/c controls and none of them function, and all of the radio lights are out on the Bose head unit but the radio controls on the steering wheel work perfectly. The a/c blows cold air but it gets stuck on whatever fan speed it was on when the console panel goes out.

this has happened a few times but now it seems permanently screwed

this is on a 04.5 G35x Sedan

any ideas ???

Very common problem. One of the reasons I went with an '05 instead of '04. I think the only fix is to replace the radio and AC circuit board. Do some searching on here. There are tons of threads on this.

I think there was a recall if your car was made between certain dates, but I don't remember the range. Most people just end up converting to a Double DIN setup because the factory radios are crazy expensive from the dealer and you risk the chance of it happening again.

Here is one of several threads on it.

One guy mentions TSB's ITB03-007 & ITB02-062. I think the recall was a very limited range and may have only been for 2003 models.

If you go with the double din, get the JDM not the Metra. Metra looks cheap, and JDM looks stock.

I don't care about getting an aftermarket radio. I don't even know what a double din is ? What's the cheapest route to fix this issue ?

find a mobile audio guy in ur area, if you go anywhere else they'll charge $400-$500, just for them to send it off to get fixed. i found a local guy who's gonna pull me and my Wife's for a group rate + military discount, yay!!!
