Was a pain in the butt, but easier than a clear bra install. Take your time, use baby soap and water mixture and a blow dryer!

Re: Batmobile smoked tails installed! Pics!
looks awesome. Still a little darker than I want though.
One question. Why blur your license number in the last two picks, but not on the first 5?

Re: Batmobile smoked tails installed! Pics!
Just to clarify, the Trail blazer tail lights are not that smoked.
While these overlays look cool, I think your opening yourself up to a lot of liability.

Re: Batmobile smoked tails installed! Pics!
Even if you completely removed your taillights, it is still not your fault it you get rear ended. Rear end collissions are never considered the fault of the person getting rear ended.
I wouldn't worry about it personally. It looks great and is not at all too dark.

Re: Batmobile smoked tails installed! Pics!
Fault in a rear end accident isn’t automatically assigned. There is a lot of fraud out there when it comes to rear end accidents. As a result, law enforcement has stepped up their investigations of these types of accidents. There are several factors that an officer has to evaluate before blame is placed.
There are a several circumstances of how an accident might happen, just suffice to say that if you created the situation and you are rear ended, you’re most likely going to be at fault.
Stating that you can remove your taillights is just plain wrong. State laws in all fifty states require you to have functioning rear facing tail lights.
A few concerns I have is that you are opening your self up to a lot of hassle from Police and liability in the event of a rear end collision.
The California vehicle code 24600e states “Tail lamps shall be red in color and shall be plainly visible from all distances within 500 feet to the rear except that tail lamps on vehicles manufactured after January 1, 1969, shall be plainly visible from all distances within 1,000 feet to the rear.
24603e states "All stop lamps shall be plainly visible and understandable from a distance of 300 feet to the rear both during normal sunlight and at nighttime, except that stop lamps on a vehicle of a size required to be equipped with clearance lamps shall be visible from a distance of 500 feet during such times.
One, these overlays don’t conform to the red color requirement. Two, you have reduced their effectiveness during both day and night. Essentially you have just given the police an invitation to pull you over. At the very least you’ll get a fix it ticket. But more likely they will find other things to screw you with.
In the event of a rear end collision, it could be successfully argued that by altering your tail lights, you have created a dangerous situation that prevented the driver behind you from seeing your tail lights. So in addition to a screwed up car, you’re now at fault. Wait till your insurance company finds out that you altered your tail lights. You’ll be lucky they don’t sue you for negligence.
I am all for modifying a car but when it comes to the safety items on a car, I leave them alone.

Re: Batmobile smoked tails installed! Pics!
I don't think they look bad, but I think I like seeing all the LEDs better IMO.
Just curious, one question regarding the legality: so if I see someone driving with no/broken/blacked out tail lights, I can just rear-end them, claim I didn't see their taillights and get a new front bumper?
Honestly, I wouldn't do that. But I just wonder how it would play out...

Re: Batmobile smoked tails installed! Pics!
I like the look, but just too dark for me in both terms of looks and safety. Here is the lighter tinted 3/10 overlays on a coupe. I think it's a good compromise. http://www.bluebatmobile.com/gallery/album02/av?full=1

I actually saw direct sunlight more on the lights than just above today, and you can see a good amount of red still coming through. They aren't as dark as the pictures show.
