Maxima was also one of the cars I was going to try but didn't get to. I was set on a G35 though I almost gave up hope of getting one until I came across mine.

I had an '05 Maxima too. Had problems with it and got rid of it.

I like the way the 09 Maxima looks, but no manual transmission = no interest from me.

Thought I Wanted a Z

A couple of years ago I was planning on getting a used 350Z. Then I read that the G35 was based on the same "platform". Then I looked at the G's. The coupe is much better looking than the Z IMO. Then I got practicle. The sedan made more sense.
I love my G. It has everything I wanted and more. The torquey (270 ftlb@4800rpm) motor, upgraged (duel piston) brakes and AWD. The prem. C pack was iceing on the cake.

I agree. I'm not a fan of permanently visible GPS screens that have warning confirmations every time I turn the car on. 90% of my drive time doesn't require a GPS.

This is just an opinion, but to me the interior of the latest G looks very much like that of an SUV. One of my relatives has a Nissan Murano and there is just too much in common for my liking.

Having said that, the new car does look more "techy" which is one of those things some like and some don't, I'm undecided for myself. What I do like about the older Gs interior is the simplicity and cleanliness of it. And just like one of the members above, I think the interior that started in 05s is the best.

IMHO New > Old

I just like new stuff better, the small trivial stuff to me doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.

To me '10 > 09 > '08 > '07 > '06 and so on.

I would rather have payments than drive an older car. I also hate to go backwards. Now that I own a car with NAV, every car i own from here out will have to have NAV...even if it just sits there looking pretty.

I also think the new Maximas look really nice. Some guy here at work has one, but for some reason he put a bra on it so now it doesn't look so good. The only thing that I wouldn't particularly like is the FWD. I'm not sure if there is an AWD option or not.

As for 1st gen vs. 2nd gen G35's, I would probably have to go with a 2nd gen if I had the choice. I prefer the body styling of the 1st generation, but the interiors on the newer ones are a little more refined. I also think the whole car drives a little better and I love the projector headlights. The stock stereos also sound much better on '07+. The only reason I bought a 2005 was because I refuse to pay over a certain dollar amount for a car. My next car will probably be a 2nd gen G35 or an M35/M45 if I can find a good deal.

I had an 07 loaner and wasn't all that impressed. The upgrade bose from my 06 sounded better and I also liked the fact that all four windows on the 06 have one touch up and down, while the loaner only had it for the front and it was broken on the drivers side. I'd like to drive an 09 to compare.

But that's more of an Premium vs base thing.

The '07 gets the same upgraded Bose and has autodown on all 4 windows with the premium.

Base '06 only has it on the two front windows.

That was a requirement for me.

When i set out to buy a new car, an '06/07 fell into the price range I wanted to spend. It basically came down to getting an '07 without NAV, or a fully loaded ''06 with NAV.

I did test drive an '05 base model for the hell of it, and to be honest I would have regretted buyin that car. No auto headlights, no Auto windows on the rear, no dual climate (not that i use it...but knowing i don't have it would have killed me!) and the bluetooth which came on the '06

If i had gotten a coupe, it would have had to have the rear active steer. If i bought one without it...it would have bothered me and i would have regretted not waiting to get one.

I guess i spoil myself like that, but i'd rather have the car I want rather than "settle" for a car i like.

I know what you mean. When i bought my maxima back in 2000 the dealer had two of them, both for the same price. A 99SE with no options or a Fully loaded 98SE with leather, bose, the whole nine yards. They both had manual transmissions. The 99 there were willing to deal on because it had been on the lot for three months or so and had 31k miles, while the 98 had just came in and had 21k miles. I kind of settled for the 99, when i really wanted the fully loaded maxima.
I later on found the maxima.org website and found out that the 99 was the slowest of all the 4th generations and the only advantage was that it was the first year that the immobilizer came with the car. Still regret it to this day.

That was the mentality that got me into a G as opposed to something like a Maxima, Accord , and I'll stop with that...

The standard options between Canadian base model and US base model I believe were different. I think all cars in Canada came standard with auto lights, auto windows on all 4, dual climate, HID lights, and whatever else.

Bottom line, I love all Gs... sedans, coupes, 1st gen, 2nd gen, AWD, and so on. Would love to try the current model even though I won't be in the market for a few years.

My only requirement was it had to have a sunroof (all Gs came with leather so that requirement was met) but i thought my car had premium (you can even look threw my threads, i said it had premium lol) then i found out it didnt after i bought it.

I was a G newb and naive at the time. If i knew what i know now, i wouldnt have bought this car.

But whatever. It is still a G, its my G, and i love it.
