No dedicated suspension kit for Sedans?
Hi board,
I did alot of research (search) and found these facts:
(1) 350Z, G coupe and Gsedan can use the same suspension
(2) The same kits used on sedan will sit 1 inch lower than the other two
and I searched on Tirerack, part # for Sedan and 350z are the same for suspension kits like Bilstein and H&R,
Therefore i want a clear confirmation from sedan experts:
Is there no dedicated after market suspension kits designed for our G sedan?
Because I saw alot of fitment, and lowering issues, and I know that the wheelbase and weight on these 3 cars are different, I want to lower my car, but I want something designed specifically for the sedan application,

i think most of the coilover set ups are made for the coupes but can be used for the sedan, or at least they sell them that way.
i know Tein springs are made specifically either for the coupe or sedan. when i spoke to them over the phone, they recommended that i do not put the coupe springs in the sedan.

Personally I have been thinking about going with S-Techs but might also do the 350z/Coupe combo

actually the curb weight (what will sit on your sedan) is lighter on the sedan than the coupe. So anything designed to sustain the coupe's weight are more than capable fo sustaining the weight.
but the wheel base on these 3 cars are little different correct?
I guess platform sharing has its cons: the aftermarket companies ignore the sedans and just throw us the same parts as teh coupes

Interesting. I was thinking about picking up a set of Tein coupe S-Techs thinking that all the suspensions are interchangeable per the big sticky in the suspension subforum.

I think tein make the springs specifically for each platform due to the height. When they coil each individual spring and make em for each platform, they do it in a way to drop the car a certain amount. If you use Z springs on the sedan, the one made to drop the Z 1 inch all of the sudden drops the sedan 2 inches. Same goes for the coupe springs, it's made to drop the coupe 1 inch, all of the sudden drops the sedan 1 1/2 inches. The spring rates for these springs are going to be the same.

You definitely need to read again all links posted by TwilightBlue. I've been a while in this forum, I've done a few mods myself to my car and still now and then I have to go back to those threads to confirm stuff. Read more! But to save you some time all suspension is interchangeable among these models. The suspension components physically fit but there is other variables like spring rate, dampening rate, type of springs (linear or progressive), adjustability, etc that will affect your ride feeling. ps. Springs designed for the G coupe only drops the sedan +1/2 inch what says it drops the coupe. If some springs drop the coupe 1" they will drop the sedan 1.5"

I read the links many times already, But I was just picky because I am pretty sure when those aftermarket guy design coilover for these 3 cars to share they didn't take into consideration:
The G35 coupe shares its 112-inch wheelbase. Yet the coupe is shorter overall than the sedan (182.2 inches versus 186.5), wider (71.5 inches versus 69.0), and lower (54.8 inches versus 57.7). And while the coupe has a lot in common with Nissan`s 350Z, the two differ in several important ways.
The G35`s wheelbase is 8 inches longer than the Z`s
in my opinion, wheelbase affects the handling dynamic significantly, car magazines always mention it in test drives. So even if the parts are a direct fit, it doens't mean it would behave as intended, but i am just picky becuz i just want the best suspension for my G
For reference, the best choice for me now is to coupe coilover, the only difference is the width, I am just writing this in case any G sedan owner has same concern

In a sense, we almost have MORE selection, since not only will coupe/Z aftermarket stuff fit our cars, but the stock Z/C parts will give us some nice mods as well. Lots of sedan guys have mostly OEM mods including: springs, struts, rims, exhaust, intake (Z-tube and rev-up airbox)...
