Front hub bearing assembly?

I have an 04 g35x and just bought it in to my mechanic to have a noise checked out. He says that it needs a front hub bearing assembly. It would take him a few days to order the part but, in the meantime, my schedule would not allow the car to get back in quickly. I've been looking online to try and find a cheaper price than he had for the part and called a dealer and they said that it doesn't come as an assembly, the hub and the bearing have to be ordered separately. My mechanic said to try and find it as an assembly as it will save him a lot of time. How did he find it as an assembly? Is it possible that it's an assembly for Nissan but not Infiniti? Should I have him just order what he can get or is there a risk there that it won't be the right part? Also to note, I trust the mechanic and don't in any way think he is trying to rip me off on the part. Thanks in advance.

yes, the bearing and hub are seperate. getting it apart requires some craftyness on a hydraulic press, or a cut-off or "whiz" wheel and an impact hammer.

easiest way would be a new bearing and hub, given he has a press.

Thanks for the response pwebb. Sucks that it doesn't come as an assembly, as it seems that many cars do have it as one. That is going to jack up the cost!
