lowering springs question.

Ok I did a search and wanted to get some feed back from some of the guys out there who have done this and have put miles on their car.
What is the best spring to go with as to getting a more agressive look, I noticed that RSR was a good choice but need more info plus do I need to change my shocks too, I don't want to get any bounce whilst driving.
If anyone knows of a good combo then let me know as I am just about to start doing slight mods to the car.

Re: lowering springs question.

Others and myself went with the 350z suspension. Some have noticed a bounce that the Z's have, but I didn't...and used to have a Z so I know the feeling. These can be picked up for cheaper than most springs and include shocks/struts. Better handling, linear springs, and they are oem parts and fit nicely...

pm me if you need more details.

Re: lowering springs question.

That is exactly what I had heard about the 350z springs, that they bounce but I suppose I can live with a little bit of bounce.
The main reason why I am planning on upgrading is because my G feels like it drifts a tad when I go around a sweeping curve and when I look down at the dash the "slip" indicator is not lit which gives me that uneasy feeling of the car not planting all 4 wheels firmly on the ground.

Going to PM you.

Re: lowering springs question.

Hmmmmm ....My Dad has a 350Z and that thing is so rough riding!! I feel beat up everytime I ride in it...you feel every bump, every rut, every crack in every rough stretch of road. Is that how your G rides after the install. I worry enough already about the front lip rubbing on parking blocks when I pull into a parking spot...dont you end up hitting them?? I agree that the springs give it a more aggressive stance, but are they really all that and a bag of chips???

Re: lowering springs question.

what year is your dad's 350z? they changed the 04 z setup for a softer ride but not compromising the performance. does your dad have an 03 z or built before november 31st, 2003?

Re: lowering springs question.

I have the 04 Z springs/shocks. The ride is still very nice - my wife never noticed the change from the sport suspension - but the handling is much better. No more dive and squat. Nicely controlled in the twisties ( I'd like it firmer still for the canyon runs but for all around it's superb ). The car is 1" lower in the front and 1/2" in tha back. I should measure now that it's been a month and see if the car settled.

And yes it's very comforting to have linear springs with nice factory stickers on them.

Go for these, it's definitely the ticket.

Re: lowering springs question.

Do not do just 04 Z springs and run them with oem sport shocks, will ride fine, but all the performance improvements these guys are talking about come time the Z shocks as well. I tried running the oem sport shocks with Z springs, it was not a good experience. I ended up pulling the rear Z springs, and installing the oem sedan rear springs with cut down upper spring seats to get the drop amount right. After that, it was fine. Your best bet, if your keeping the oem sport shocks would be the RSR 350Z springs or Tein H-tech springs ment for the 350Z.

When you say, "I already have a bumpy riding car". Can you talk more about about that? What do you want out of the car for your efforts? And What drop range are you after?

Re: lowering springs question.

Ahhh....yes my Dads Z is an 03...bought in June, the day after I bought my G. So if there is a difference in suspension from 03 to 04 as some suggest, then I could be convinced that it would be a good move.

Re: lowering springs question.

Gsedan35 what I meant was that I have a sports car which has a bumpish ride which is due to it being lowered and also because of the AWD system, this is my 3000gt not my G.
What I want out of changing the springs and shocks is a more lowered vehicle and one that handles better or should I say sticks to the road better.

www.my350z.com

Check out the classified parts section and you should get a response if you put up a WTB post. Also, I have the old (03-early 04) setup on my G and there's no noticible bounce like there was on my Z. I've gotten comments from people who don't know I swapped the suspension about how much more comfortable it is than the Z was...fwiw.

And I do believe this setup will give you what you are looking for in terms of performace, and it's cheap too!

Re: lowering springs question.

Ok, find a 04 350Z suspension. Your worst case situation will be having to chuck the Z shocks for Koni sport shocks or Tokico D-spec shocks.

What springs and shocks are on the VR4?

Re: lowering springs question.

I just joined the 350z so that I can look up and see if there are any setups for sale.
I have the Tien HA suspension system on the vr4 but as most know, the vr4 likes to follow every rut and crack in the road but hell it sticks to every corner like glue.
