Engine died while driving

I was driving on the 10 fwy, as I moved to exit, I lost all power and my engine died as if I was out of gas, I was able to coast to the ramp and had to wait for the road service. I took in to Metro Infiniti Monrovia, they said it was the sensors in the throttle chamber, that they were not recieving signals that fuel is in the chamber... anybody else have this problem, they also mentioned that there was 3 other sedans with the same problem and that a recall is likely to happpen Anybody else have the same problem? this also happened to me in my old 02 Maxima SE

Re: Engine died while driving

I've never had anything like that happen. Is yours a 5AT or 6MT? Did they mean the MAF or another sensor? Also, do you have any mods?

Re: Engine died while driving

They also had a recall on the crank sensor which had the exact symptoms as you described.....My 2002 I35 had a recall on that, and I believe it was the same engine/horsepower as the sedans....just my .02

Re: Engine died while driving

Your problem sounds like the crank position sensor. But what they told you doesn't jibe with that. Good luck

Re: Engine died while driving

I saw an s500 getting towed for not staring in my parkling garage. I guess that theory about the more the car cost the better the reliability is not quite an axiom just yet. Subbie fans keep trying - there must be a reason to give up all the tourque, room, looks and handling better for a 4 cylinder old platform with solara meets scion looks. Keep trying and you might find a soon to be family man willing to downgrade.
