Stolen Alloy Center Cap

Left my G at the airport garage on an overnight to Chicago and, when I got back, the right front center cap was missing from the OEM 17" sports alloy. $30 from the local dealer. I reported it to the airport police - said it was likely kids as a "ring" would have taken them all. The had to break it to get it out as a few of the teeth were still in the rim along with the retainer spring wire. Stinks!

That really Sucks dude. I'm sure they'll get caught sooner or later.
Btw- You have any problems with those 235/50/17 tires?! I wanted to go wider with the stock sport wheels too.

Re: Stolen Alloy Center Cap

Folks,

In the first 12 k-miles, I lost two and almost a third. I originally thought that they were being swiped but one day while washing the car, I noticed that one of the center caps was dangling and ready to fall off. The center cap is held on with three plastic tabs and one of the tabs had cracked off. I'm sure that the first two were lost to broken tabs too...

Re: Stolen Alloy Center Cap

The 235/50 Michelins fit perfectly - with essentially no speedo error as the diameter is almost identical to the stock Goodyears. Grip is tremendous in the dry, but the real benefit is in the wet. They are maybe the best high performance rain tire out there. Standing water seemingly has no effect on stability. So the upgrade is really cheap insurance - and they look great too. Really fill out the fenders. Unmounted, next to the stock tire, they are really much wider. But no rubbing at all.

Re: Stolen Alloy Center Cap

Yours may have been damaged by the tire mounting guys. I guess most balancer machines require the center cap to be removed (which must be done carefully so as not to damage the "prongs").
