Help lowering my 2004 X

Before all of you say read the sticky, i read ALL 89 pages in the sticky above and learned alot of usefull info, but didnt get every one of my questions answered.

At first i was going to go with sedan tien h-techs because it was a very mild drop and some people said i didnt need a camber kit, but then after reading alot, i learned that people were unhappy with the rear h techs and almost everyone said id still need a camber kit. So i scratched that.

I only wanted a mild drop because i live in Ct and we get a good amount of snow and i didnt want to be plowing the snow but now im going to keep that out of the picture. MANY users said that sedan H&R's were the best spring for our car. Offered a low and even drop, wasnt to bad on the camber, offered a GREAT ride quality for aftermarket springs.

Next i am worrired about the struts. I know there is nothing we can do about the front so if i lower im just going to have to go OEM. But i have a few questions for the rear. If i went with H&S's can i use sport sdean struts/350z struts? I was informed that they would hold up alot better than the OEM X struts. I know there are other options for rear sturuts like konis, but they cost a bit much for me.

Forgot to mention im only 17 so right now, coils, and konis and all these VERY pricy thigns are out of the question.

As for after the drop, im very confused when it comes to camber and what camber kits to buy and basily just confused about all the these "spec". So a little help would be great. I noticed that alot of users were going with rear SPC camber kits and had them professionaly installed.

So a quick overview:
Lower with sedan H&R's all around
Used Stock front struts ; sport/350z rear stuts
Some sort of camber kit to get spec back or close to stock

Please offer all the info you guy can help me qith, ive done lots of research but im still confused/ need some help of a few things.

Thanks so much,
Mike

almost any type of lower will result in you needed at least a rear camber kit.

SPC has been the first to big company to come up with the camber kits and they have been great. Plenty people love them and use them. Its kinda like stick with what works. Others have came out but similiar prices but for $10-20 more why not get something thats proven to work. Not saying the others like eibach and stillen aren't. They are good names and etc but i dont see a reason not to stick with that works.

if you did you research like you said then you saw all the pictures of the drops. You stock struts will be on borrowed time if you install a lowering spring. Like anything you mod. Least pairing up with 350z shocks will be better then stock stuff.

if money is a problem, honest i wouldn't consider lowering the car. It will open a whole more thing for you buy to run it the PROPER way. you can just install H/R springs with nothing else for $100-200 just springs alone and be good. Tire wear might come into play without the camber kit. You stock struts/shocks might blow. Getting Z/sports struts and shocks will not eliminate the chances of blowing the suspension but i think it gives you a better chance of not. You can just wait for things to go and replace them one by one. if your not doing the isntall yourself aleast get springs and struts.

Some people say doing a Z/G spring/strut drop will not require a camber kit. I had that for a while and i think thats totally BS. There was obvious camber in both the rear and front. It might be considered within specs for the coupes and Z because they had feathering issues and come with a little camber stock, but i never bothered to get it aligned.

Right now for my X, i spent $1000 on coilovers. going to spend $200 on the rear kit. $100 to get a aligned and to see if i need the fronts kit as well( another $300). I did the installs myself so i saved myself like $500-600

SPC is the common camber kit used.

You could buy these shocks, those struts, them springs. In the end their not built to work with each other and will eventually go out. Unless you get everything off of a Z, even then you will still need a camber kit.

Coilovers, front and rear camber kits is your savior.

From looking at your sig i dont see any rims stated, so with that said lowering your car would be just a waste in your case especially if money is an issue for you.

Well its not that money is a big issue, ive got money but i try to save up money while spending it on my car, so i put like 50$ aside in my acct and the rest go es towards my car. I was going to lower then eventually, once ive got the money, get rims, but thats much later down the road.

Turtle you stated you bought coilover for the X for 1000$? mind giving me a link and any info or pics you have on the coils off and on your car? just like to see them because compard to some coils for g35's, 1000$ isnt too bad.

Thanks for the replys guys, i geuss lowering isnt going to be in my world for a long time haha

in the last couple of pages of the dropped X sticky you will see pictures of coilovers and my drop.

i also made a thread when i have Z suspension all around.

Coilovers are on a group buy over on nicoclub.com. They are BC racing branded and they just got released.

BC Racing Coilovers for the X are defiantely worth it if you can afford it. But if you can't then drop on springs cuz that's what I did. I was dropped on H&R Sports springs for a couple of months. The ride quality was nice. I have them for sale if your interested.

Lol for something as simple as a sway bar, you'd figure they'd be done before something as complex as a coilover.

now where do i send my money to get them fancy coilovers?

I had BCR on my IS-F but hate them so they are coming out for a set of KWV3's....

Just got KWV3's for the G35 sedan as well - how is the install labor wise, any difficulty doing it yourself?

mcaron, I'm 18 man, I'm a student in college and everyday I look at these threads, it just makes me more depressed because I have 2 jobs and saving up money is still hard. I wanted to lower my car, like on springs, eibach or teins, I thought all you have to do is buy the springs and you are good. Then, I see stuff like this how you need new camber kits and struts and shocks and whatever. My dad is a mechanic at nissan, I don't know anything about cars, my dad is stringent when it comes to aftermarket mods because he knows stuff goes wrong and it's going to cost at the end. Yet, I still want to lower my X =[

^ exactly how i am too. i dont mind buying the springs and camber kits for me its the fact that the X's front sturts are differant and hard to find. if i had a standard g35 i can use struts off any sedan, coupe or 350z. so that is why im holding back. i have 06 350z springs sitting in my room now
