Looking for replacement calipers

I don't want to go with a BBK. Does anyone make another type or color caliper? I have slotted/drilled rotors & aftermarket wheels (which really show the calipers). The OEM calipers are ugly to me. I was going to paint them black but deicded not to.

There is a company that sells powder coated OEM calipers, I forget the name, but I'm sure if you search you will find them.

Also, I believe RacingBrake sells a set of calipers, but I think you're going to have to end up upgrading your rotors and pads to if I'm not mistaken.

Akebono?

I painted mine silver. While i agree that the stock calipers don't look hot compared to a BBK, they don't look that ugly. I've seen worse. 99% of the driving public doesn't even care about brakes anyway. Can't tell you how often i see someone put expensive 20" wheels on their car and leave the stock rusty brakes behind them. To me, the wheels and brakes gotta work together.

I think my setup looks clean and simple.

I agree. Can't see your pics though. The calipers dont look right to me now with the new wheels. They show way more.

Those look ok, better than mine. I decided I'm going to paint them black to hide them if I dont find replacements.

Recommendations on painting the calipers? Has anyone actually had them powder coated? Anyone use paint specifically developed for calipers/high heat applications?Anyone have pictures of black calipers on a black G?

I recommend paint over powdercoat. Powdercoating can insulate and with brake systems you def want th eheat to escape freely.

I use VHT caliper paints and have had good luck with them on street cars. When i AutoX, i have baked the paint right off the rotors from the heat. As a result, i now use a set of bare rotors for AutoX.

VHT has a brush on and spray on paint. I've used both. The key is prep. I wash the brakes with degreaser, they spray with brake cleaner, then wipe lightly with vinegar to etch the metal and then paint.

The above pics were taken 2 months after I painted my brakes. When i wash my wheels, i spray simple green and wipe off the brakes through the spokes, but as oyu can see, it still looks clean and new.

For me, the two options for colors was black or silver. I think silver matches the rims nicely

Thanks for the info Mustang! Now I'm thinking of buying a set of OEM calipers & taking my time painting them. Anyone know where to get OEM calipers the cheapest?

your 06 calipers are going for about $500-600 used in the market place.

Simply not worth the hassle of buy and taking your time, least to me, Because if you swap calipers you need a line wrench and you also have to bleed the system.

I did mine on the car. I spray painted them however. I just timed it with a brake job. I masked and painted the rotor off the car, i painted the U-bracket that holds the pads off the car, and then i hung the caliper, masked EVERYTHING off and painted the caliper still attached. Was not hard to do. I did the entire front brake job in 2 hours...including prep and painting the rotors and calipers.

I still gotta do the rears though, huge diff from front to rear.
