New G35 Owner Who Already Replace Tranny at 30k miles
So I just bought my 06' G35 in California and drove to New Jersey. During the drive i began to feel a transmission shaking problem. I took it into the dealer because its under warranty and they couldn't find the problem where it was leaking a crazy amount of oil so they replaced some gasket which involved taking the tranny out. A week later I took it in again because the shaking was killing me. It was occurring around 40mph in 5th gear. When the dealer called me saying my car was ready they also told me they put in a whole new transmission and gave me a receipt for $5200. Is this a common issue? I found it pretty weird for a decently new car.

If I accelerate very quickly up to near highway speeds, so I'm only in 2nd or 3rd gear, and then take my foot off the gas, I occasionally get a little hesitation/lurch. My guess is it's just trying to find the right gear since it might be changing from 2nd into 5th. It doesn't happen very often, but I don't create those circumstances very often either. Otherwise it's as smooth as silk.

It could be a manufacturing flaw. It doesn't necessarily need to be abuse. ALl it takes if for a seal or spring or piston internally to fail and it snowballs into something like this.
It could have been fixed for all we know. The dealer never found the cause so they replaced the trans instead.
I for one would be pissed if i had a new(er) car with a replaced trans or engine. I would prob sell it.

More than likely it's a reman. The trans they took out of your car will be sent to Nissan and a tech will go through it and more than likely use it as a core to reman it as well. Then when someone else's trans blows up, your trans will be installed into their car. Same deal with a new engine...usually most manufacturers install remans.
By the way, do you guys know what I have to do to void the manufacturers warranty? If i put an exhaust is it still going to be covered?
Usually a modification has to cause the failure to void the warranty. Usually with exhaust you are good unless you go in because your exhaust fell off or something. Then the dealer could say you installing an aftermarker exhaust caused the system to fail.
Another example is a BBK. If you install a nice brake kit, and then your master cylinder fails, a dealer might not cover it saying the aftermarket parts caused the failure. Hard to prove really, but they would have a case.
But if your power window motor craps the bed, they won't void your warranty because you have a turbo on the car. However if they find mods related to the power windows (a 1 touch down module installed on non-premium models) then they could void it.
See where I am getting at?
