i tried to do mines today and failed, the car looks like it has been resprayed at least wit clearcoat, dirt and hard glue won't not come off, plus the glue took some of the paint off under the 3 as well, I just put them back on.

It's probably not the glue that took off the paint.

Dirt and other contaminants get wedged against the lettering, causing it to oxidize and get through the clear coat faster. This is my #1 reason for debadging a car.

You can always use the chipped paint repair procedures found on this site to touch up the clearcoat that's been damaged.

Get some ScratchX, rub that around a couple times with a MF towel, then put some good wax over the whole trunk. it will be gone or very hard to see.

or you could wax everything but where the letters used to be and maybe they'll fade like the rest of the trunk lol
