Removing Leather Shift Boot

Just wondering how i remove that leather shift boot? Is it just clipped on?

Further more, how do i remove that whole little aluminum base thing? I dont want to break anything. Thanks!

It's plastic, not aluminum. Pull up by digging your fingers into the leather boot and lift up the side closest to the seat warmer buttons. Try to get some room underneath to disconnect the hazard switch and ashtray.

The shift **** must be unscrewed, turning it to the left to unscrew.

Well to remove the aluminum base you need to remove the shift ****. On the 05+ the square chrome ring at the top of the leather shift boot is clipped into place. Just firmly slide it straight down and you can then remove your shifter ****. The **** is clipped into place with a C ring which comes out easily. Once that ring is removed the shifter **** can be pulled straight up. Im pretty sure the PRND plate is not removable from the rest of the aluminum trim if thats what you are trying to remove. I used a plastic putty knife to pop up the aluminum trim underneath that. There are several clips around the base, once you get one unclipped the rest is cake.

The directions should be in the Factory Service Manual.

That doesnt tell us how to remove the actual shift boot though. Like the leather part.
