"New" 2004 G35x

I just picked up a "new" 2004 G35x. It's Platinum Graphite black interior. All options including Navigation, aero package. It has 50,000 miles. Interior and body pretty near perfect. About the best looking stock 2004 I've seen here in New England. Got it from an Infinity dealer for 17,100.

This is my second 2004 G34x. My son now has the other one. It's also very nice and has been very reliable, but the body while good, is not "perfect" like this one.

I'm thinking of doing some mods on the new one like Motodyne 1/2 iso Thermal plenum spacer, Stillen generation 2 Cat-back, perhaps Stillen Z-Tube Intake. Maybe new Grill. Any ideas on new after market grill for 2004 G35x? Any thoughts about this plan? Also I'm not mechanically inclined enough to do this work myself. Do I take it to a dealer or just "trusted" local mechanic who works on a lot of high end European and Japanese cars. Any idea what a dealer would charge for the mechanical work?

Thanks,

Tilf

Congrats on the deal with the X. Sounds like a rare one at that with the fully loaded version including the Aero/Nismo body kit and navigation package. I'm sure the car has heated seats as well, and I believe the body color you're referring to for your car is Diamond Graphite, not Platinum. Do you have any pics of your car to share?

Congrats on your new acquisition! Those mods are fairly simple and you can do them yourself with the least bit of knowledge.

No pics yet but I'll be working on it. I'm not sure it's the Nismo Aero. My other G35x that my son has came with that. It's very heard to one like that around here.

Check out Riverside Infiniti, they have a black out grille for the 03-04 that looks pretty sweet depending on the color of your G.

Go to Motordyne's website and compare the 1/2 and 5/16ths spacers. I think you'll find that the 5/16ths is a better option. The 1/2 has more power at the upper end, but it gives up some torque down low. Overall the 5/16ths seems to have a more useful power curve.

As for mechanics, don't go to the dealer. They're too expensive, and since you're still under the power train warranty, they may be reluctant to install the spacer.

Yep I figured out the 5/16th is a better choice. I know a local mechanic who does a lot of work on Euro cars and high end Japanese models. He's worked on some of my other cars in the past. I'll likely take it to him. He be considerably but not drastically cheaper.

Spacer install is easy with basic hand tools.
