Good Deal For A 04?

Been looking into getting a G for a while now. Was stuck on a Ivory Or Fire Garnett 05-06x model, and was looking for something with no more then 30,000 miles and for around 20k. Its kind of hard coming across a deal like that. So today I was browsing on a Toyota dealers website and found a certified pre-owned 1-owner 2004 g35 not x, on special for 16,998 with 26,xxx miles on it. Everything shown on the carfax looks good. I live in NY and snow doesn't get that bad, around here. Right now Im driving a 2001 BMW 330i and havent had alot of trouble in the snow. So does this sound like a good deal? I also had it fixed in my head that I wanted to buy direct from infiniti(as a peace of mind), any negatives from buying from another dealer? Hoping to go check it out in person tomorrow. Anything I should look out for? Thanks in advance!

Also something thats been bugging me, was black interior only available on ivory pearl in 03/04?

not sure how the 2004 is certified, given that infiniti does not certify any car older than 4 years or more than 60k miles. so I would be suspicious of that.

i live in MD, and got the X for the days when snow does impact driving conditions. having the AWD really helped out on several days, I owe my life to it on a few occassions. so you've got to think if the extra $500-$1000 is worth it (of course the tires are critical too).

I too, prefer to buy directly from an infiniti dealership as well.

check out cars.com, the website has a fairly large database of cars available.

as for the deal, I think that is a bit high for a 5-6 year old car, non-AWD (probably that high due to the low mileage).

but if you really want it, I think 14K would be a fair offer price.

Thanks for the insight. Its at a Toyota Dealer and is certified pre owned by toyota, whatever that means. If I go up there and everything checks out I was going to see if I could get it for 16, 16.5 OTD. You think its not worth even that much? KBB value is 17,xxx. Thanks for the help. This is the first time I'm car shopping through a dealer.

i got my GarnetFire 04 g35x in pretty mint condition w/48k mi back in May for $15k. I also have a 4 year bumper to bumper. $16k for an auto, non-x seems pretty high. Shop around some more for an x. When it snows it will be worth it.

That does seem a little high, no matter what KBB says. I got my 05X with 30k on it for $14500.

yeesh. another "is this a good deal" thread. it all depends on your local market, vehicle condition, and your emotional attachment. a car that sells for $15k in one market might sell for $19k in another.

have a look at your local resources (paper/autotrader/craigslist...) to determine if that is a fair price. and, of course, have the vehicle inspected by a quality independent mechanic.

man, just came back from the dealer. got there, saw her, she had to be the cleanest, freshest 04 i've seen. Only 1 barely noticable small dent on the driver door. Looked like it was owned by a older person that wasn't content with it, and traded it for a better gas mileage toyota. Then i found out she was just sold. guess it wasn't meant to happen. Looking through a couple websites now and dont see anything as close in price range/mileage. thanks for the input though guys, def appreciate it!...& the search continues....

Dealerships will always try to sell the car higher than a local reputable mom/pop shop. You should, as others mentioned, look at autotrader/cars/vehix.com and see what your options are. I got my 06 IP G RWD with 25K for 19 out the door. The value of our cars has depreciated, and will continue as with any cars. Patience is a virtue. Good luck

agreed, buying a car should be classified in the same process as buying milk. you should do your research (for at least 3 months), and do not feel pressured to buy at anytime.

additionally, if you are going to test-drive it, make sure you do so from an infiniti dealership so that the sales-rep will at least be able to answer your questions/concerns about the car type in general.
