So far the only reason you have for using it is because formula 1 racers use it!

I kindly asked for some data and you went all defense and now want to resort to name calling.

You mean to tell me, all your "research" into this comes down to because racers use it? Tell me you're not serious?

Call me crazy, but I could make this exact setup with a $70 z-tube, $90 POP charger, $20 45 degree silicone elbow, $8 sheet of aluminum, and $2 in gasket material. What am I missing here that's so great about this setup?

As for the foam element, foam is the least restrictive, but the worst at filtering. But then again what's the point in a higher flow element when the OEM airbox has plenty of volume to flow enough air for most any bolt-on VQ35DE?

Interesting POV on VWvortex: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothrea...rint&id=562072

Another viewpoint here: http://www.balancemotorsport.co.uk/m...ry=Air+Filters

OP, let us know over time if you end up with any dirty MAF sensor problems.

SwivelHips,

I appreciate the links, I will run my pipercross foam filter long term and I will update the thread with objective comments about whether this filter is doing it job or other issues.

Thanks. Carlos

Seems like a decent intake system, but seems overpriced.

Looks very similar to the AFE intake for the 350Z

My friend has this intake system on his car. Good airbox.

This one looks like it uses a good filter. The V-stack looks suspect though. The JWT and Stillen v-stacks are much smoother.

1000 miles on the pipercross foam filter and took it off to check the MAF, I took the MAF completely off the intake, it looks clean. No problem thus far. I won't check it again until the next oil change. So far so good. Mileage has been about 25 miles to the tank better, I wasn't expecting this, but thats good. Maybe I'm driving slower?

Filter still in great shape

After running the filter for the past 11 months, in hot Florida weather, lots of dust, and 25,000 miles on the filter the foam media is holding up great, just cleaned it once since new with the K&N filter cleaning kit and slapped it back on the car, I took off the MAF and inspected the throttle body and it is clean, great filter system!! WOW looks like no rebuilding my engine afterall ha haDOMO
