But you've misidentified the pic... that's a foam air filter.

Thanks for the followup. Not sure a clean-looking MAF is the only indication of great filtration, but at least it's not fouling it so that's something.

my friend Miles runs the same filters on his Ferrari 360, no problems at all, they have a lifetime warranty, nuff said

Is that foam + foam? Or foam + amsoil normal media? because the inside of the filters in that picture don't look like foam to me.

^not sure but it seems there are a lot of "2 stage" foam filters on the market w/bold claims after some google time.

I know Amsoil had a foam addition for their off road applications. But I always thought it was over one of their standard medias. I wonder if they put this on top of the new synthetic media.

I don't know if that's the case, but it would seem reasonable.
Foam's big strong point isn't it's ability to filter small particles, but rather it's capicity to hold a lot of junk without getting clogged. So a foam cover over a more conventional filter would make sense in an off road application. Let the foam catch all the big crap (sand/dust particles) instead of that mess quickly clogging up the conventional filter, but keep that there for anything that gets through the foam (which judging from that link you posted earlier, is still a plenty )
