I have lost 3 center caps off of my right front wheel. They are not just falling off, they are breaking apart. I noticed this morning that another one was gone, but there were pieces still left in the wheel. And it's not the same wheel as I have rotated the tires. But, it is always the right front. These are the Sedan 17" 5-spoke sport wheels. Anybody else having this problem?

Lost my fourth in about 22K miles just yesterday... The plastic tabs are cracking and they are all but falling off. I found three of the four hanging by one of the four plastic tabs just prior to falling off while hand washing. In a similar thread, someone thought that maybe they were re-installed incorrectly after tire rebalancing...not the case for me; I have the original tires on the wheels. I also have a hard time believing that someone is stealing them off my car in a locked garage or in a gated parking lot at work.

So far the dealer says that they have not seen a trend with their other customer and Infiniti has not issued a recall. The dealer does not consider this to be a warrantable item. I may try to escalate to the regional Infiniti Rep if this keeps up. Until then, at ~$32 each, this is going to be an expensive reoccurring repair item!

 

I'm up to my fourth as well. I noticed the driver's side front broke apart on my way home from the dealer. Which, coincidentally, I went to buy a new cap for the passenger side front! I wonder if it is the heat from the brakes that is affecting the plastic? My dealer is only charging $25.

Is the dealer asserting that these are wear items? Huh?

It sounds like a clear case of defective manufacturing or materials, or otherwise being unfit for the intended purpose. IOW, standard warranty terminology.

I have lost 2 of the exact center caps myself. The first one I noticed the center cap was missing but the plastic tabs and the metal band that holds it in to place were still on the inside of the rim. the second one i notice fall off when i used my leaf blower to dry my wheels off after a wash. when the wind hit the center cap it went rolling down the drive way.

The dealer replace both under warranty after i showed him that there were no physical defects or scars on the rims where I would have hit a curb or someone tried to pry them off.

The dealer also stated that i am the first one with this problem and he has only sold 2 of these caps in the last 2 years.

 

My front right came off with about 3000 miles on the car. I just ordered another one because my dealer said it was probably theft, "Someone stealing it because it has the Infiniti logo on it.." Mine also still has the metal band and plastic pieces on there. Mine also is the front right wheel. If it comes out again I'm going to demand my dealer cover it under warranty. I don't want to keep replacing these things every couple of months.

Lost another one today, except this time I saw how I lost it. I was in a touchless car wash since my car got a poop storm from some bird in a tree. Anyways, the high pressure spray knock off my rear driver side centercap. Snapped two of the tabs off.

Infiniti is getting a letter tomorrow; that's pretty weak if you ask me.
