radio/hvac malfunction in 03?

im looking at purchasing a g35 sedan and an 03 is right around my price point. ive read numerous complaints about there being a malfunction with the radio and hvac unit in half of this model year though. is there any way to tell which ones this problem effects and which it it is corrected on? thanks

does it have the bose radio? I have an 05 that i bought in Feb. The radio was being replaced when I bought the car, the HVAC worked afterwards, but changer didnt. I've had it swapped twice since then.. The current one seems to be working good finally..knock on wood. If it has a bose, then it may have issues, if not, then you should be fine.

If all else fails, get a jdm/metra radio kit and aftermarket radio..

The problem, which i think would apply to the 03 too, is the bose radio controls the hvac controls.. those kits replace the control

Just figure on the radio being broken and factor in the cost of replacing it with something decent. Even if it's not broken, the stock radio in the G35 is fairly crappy anyway.

yeah from the ones that ive looked at it sounds pretty good. idealy id like to keep it stock so that it keeps a natural flow to the console, but i cant justify replacing it with another stock one that may go out when i can just do a complete overhaul for the same price as 1 unit.
