3-0 tonight, ahhhh =)

Man, what turned out to be just going for some dinner, then going home turned into 3 races and a lot of fun =) Well as i was coming outta applebee's, like 30 asian kids (not implying anything) other then they had some sick cars, this guy in a RX8 said wanna run? after doing a burnout, i started laughing and said sure =) It was late so no one was out, you guys know im carefull rite? Anyway his freind was laughing and said he would eat me LOL, and my friend with me started laughing, so we go from a stop and he launches his car perfect and i didnt even bother power breaking, i was surprised, he had 1/2 a car on me but then i just started gaining so hard and up to about 100 which he said was more than a 1/4 mile i had about 2 cars on him, he said lets go from a 1/4 mile ill do better, i said i didnt even power break LOL, he said your top ends crazy lets go from a roll, we went from 30 up to 100 and he had no power at all, i just saw him fading away no joke. Hi was like nice run and his friend said HOLY SHITT, i was like ur cars pretty quick, he was like yours is very fast haha, he said he beats stock coupes all of the time and that my shifts are perfect, much faster than manual he thought i was stick. im video taping for now on.

So anyway my second race was about 2 minutes after this one where i had to get on the highway to turn around, there was an IS300, everyone obviosuly knows the outcome, he was going about 50 and rolled down and said lets go i laughed again and said go ahead ill catch up LOL, he took off about a car and a hafl and i punch it and it took me a good 15-20 sec's to match his speed and catch up to him, then at like 70-75 i was passing him then by 130 i had bus lengths on him, he was laughing and said holy shitt you killed me i and gave me a thumbs up.

Next race was best one of the night, and almost ever, me and a brand new S4, V8 340 horses 6spd, we did 2 runs, one short and one long. We did the short run from 50 to about 90 and we were about dead evenuntil he was braking, then coming off a light he said lets go, some cool older guy. So we were rolling from about 10-20 (thank god, no AWD launch) i waited for him to punch it first and he does and instantly i do at the top of first, i shift to second and he has a bumper on me, shift to third and i start catchin up slowly and its about 75 and i shift to 4th and as he shifts i just start walking so slow, i ended up a bumper in front of him around a slight turn almost straight and we come up to a light within a hundred feet and shut it down, then we were tlaking and he said that sounds sick, thats crazy fast and what i did to it, i explained and he said damm and he said hes getting exhaust and chip, hes bone stock and he said you kept up so damm well considering is monster v8, i prob would have lost if he was a perfect shifter, he was pretty damm good though.

Every guy that night thought i had a stick, and said the way i shift is perfectly better than any manual and that i drive it like a stick LOL. Man fun night, to all of the people who mod their car, im not talking about little BS but stuff i did, how can u say u dont notice it? My car is a totally diff car, and ive kept up with and beaten amazing cars (beat a m3 cab, M5 had about 2 cars on me and not pulling, and a 400 hp s4 had car and a half) all from rolls. Anyway just wanted to share, this makes me want to keep my car again and not get a coupe =)

Yo honestly from a dead stop the S4 wouldve had me by a few cars, but when your going from a roll not a lot of cars will smoke the G especially modded because of the equal torque and HP, and in my case on my dyno's i have over 10 lb ft. more torque and over 300 at the crank, thats what calculations are ast least. Lol most of you know me, i dont post BS stories, on the highway it was almost dead even between me and my friends sti, ill post the video when i get it from him he taped it, my cars running ridiculous and i shift faster thana ny manual, yes i use MM mode and i wasnt smoking crack, i had him by 100, you wouldnt know honestly lol because stock g35's have hasrdly any top end, my car continues to pull past 120 with ease. Ill try and find him again, i kind of know where he lives and i'll tape it =)

Martin: Your car must be a "One of a Kind." With only a Injen CAI mod and your beating M3, S4, etc., then you are one lucky SOB! I wish my car ran that well. Maybe I should stop the wife from driving it so often.

Yea with the intake HAHAH, yea right!! This car was alwasy quick from a stop, but on the highway i would get murdered, the test pipes pulley's and exhaust helped in that area where i couldnt go past 110-120 without liek waiting for an hour. My mods wont fit in my sig so i said forget it, and he was bone stock the S4, he said he was getting a chip and exhaust and complimented me for keeping up although if i was stick i would have lost and if the race was longer i would have lost, and especially if we went from a dead stop i would have lost LOL.. Im hoping tonight will be cold again, ill have my camera with a video and hopefull see some nice cars for a run. I ripped this kids 330i 6spd today, he was bugging me and bugging me to race him, he had dinan chip, exhaust, intake and a few other things and he was like man you embarrassed me. This cars surprising me more and more everyday, and i didnt get the plenum yet. How much more should it help this car out any more? Martin

Get the plenum - best mod there is for my setup anyway. Your test pipes and other stuff puts you in rare NA air if you get the plenum!

Martin:

Don't doubt the veracity of your stories, and have found you to be pretty level-headed when reading your posts, BUT I have to take issue with certain things you've said here.

For example, you say the stock "G" doesn't have any top end, but my 6MT pulls very hard, right up to 140 MPH so far (I've just turned 8,000 miles, and it's bone stock). I remember mentioning this to you before once in a prior post about 3 months ago, when you were frustrated about your car sort of "dying off" after 100-110 MPH (obviously, before your latest mods). By my car accelerating "very hard", I mean no noticeable difference in the pull from 60-100 than from 100-140, just keep revving to 6,250 or so, then shift, then do it again.

Also, you say at one point in this post that if you'd have had a stick, you'd have "lost" to the S4. How can you say that? The stick is superior to the 5AT in virtually EVERY acceleration test done by EVERY car magazine. Do you somehow believe that your mods make your AT faster - I mean, with the same mods on a 6MT, I'm sure anyone who really knew how to drive a stick could get it to beat an identically modded AT. After all, you still have the inherent disadvantage of 5 gear ratios vs. 6 gear ratios, don't you ??

I, too, enjoy and respect your enthusiasm, but I don't buy that your AT is in any way faster than an identically modded 6MT would be - and I don't see how you could intelligently feel that way. Don't get me wrong, I've never been confused with Mario Andretti (there WAS that time at the mall that someone thought I looked like Michael, though - LOL), but I don't think anyone should believe their car would be LESS of a performer if it had a 6MT vs. a 5AT.

Just my thoughts, for what they're worth.

Noooo Dbarnes lol, you totally misunderstood me or i made myself unclear, i actually gave the stock 6spd so much props for keeping the distance so close between us and the 350z considering both were stick, and bone stock and me beating them by not that much. That's why when i started saying my cars not fast enough i was like WOW, the stock 6spd's are FAST as hell and would BURN me stock and i couldnt imagine these mods on a 6spd, it would be ridiculous. What i was saying is with my stuff done now, my auto shifting has been very much more superior to those who drive manuals that i have faced or ran agaisnt, i hope you understand me better now, rite? I wouldnt consider myself "lightly" modded, it has done a lot to this car and also you have to remember when i was complaining about my top end im not a stick, remeber?
The autos are horrible in manual mode on the highway trying to go for a high speed run from lets say 50 to 120, thats where i noticed the 6spds are so much different then the autos, that raw power in any gear they put it in. Yes my MM mode is good from a stop and even better now on the highway over stock and agaisnt some cars, but i can put it up to 4th and it wont move anywhere because its not a true manual, understand? And thanks guys for the enthusiasm remarks lol, i post realistic stories and just to give peope a feel for what proper modding and what i have could do agaisnt cars that are unthinkable to go up against to other people. I might get a coupe or another sedan but in a six speed, i realized there is a huge diff. between them!!

And i think my mods which are pretty much satisfying me for right now, would make me even happier for the results im looking for on a coupe or any manual considering i was thinking this car just isnt as fast as an M3, nwo i realize with 2g's in the car and a stick i can possible beat an m3 or stay dead even, i might be happy until i go FI =) Yes im alwasy in need of power and fixing up my car, i love doing the job right with anything and having the satisfaction of people complimenting me and seeing good results, such as my race stories. Anyway i hope i cleared up a few things for you guygs. Martin

Thanks Martin, for making that clear - I stand corrected on my understanding as to what you meant.

I knew you were too savvy to not realize the difference between 6MT and 5AT but, that said, I also will give the AT it's due, because the truth of it is that in the hands of the "average joe" driver, a 5AT will consistently run 1/4 mile times within .10 of a second of each other, whereas average guys like me with a 6MT will sometimes kick *** and hook up right away, sometimes bog and get eaten in the first 0-60', and sometimes go up in a cloud of tire smoke (also getting eaten in the first 0-60', but with more drama). So it's always a cliffhanger when it comes to the 6MT, and also, one blown shift 2nd to 3rd or 3rd to 4th and you've lost the race right there with a 6MT!

I do realize that a 5AT is probably better for the average guy at the drags, and in fact, many of the pro's use At's for consistency, especially the bracket racers. I, personally, like the ILLUSION of control I feel with the 6MT, although I'm no professional, or even good amateur, driver.

Keep 'em coming, Martin - and don't lose that enthusiasm. You modders are blazing the trail for us "wannabe" modders, and we are learning what the hot setups are from you before we go spending our $$ on useless crap.
