Hey guys,

so here is the 411 2003 g35 sedan auto with 88000KM

Car was acting all strange, SES and brake light and battery light etc were all on the dash and had problems starting the car. Took it in and they checked the alternator and battery. Diagnosed as a bad battery. Battery was changed. Ran another test and all checked out ok
next morning i go to start the car and it fires right up and then dies. Tried again and fires right up and dies. Left the car for a few days and then went out, started it again and it started! Drove around and all was good. Took it back to the shop[ and asked them to check it out and they said the car is fine and there are NO codes. Once again, took the car home and next morning go to start it and she fires right up but then dies right away. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?

One thing i noticed is that after the new battery was installed, when the temperature is below zero degrees celcius ( I am In Toronto Canada) the car dies right after start up. However, the days where it was slightly above zero or a bit warmer, the car started up fine and actually ran.

I hope i have given you guys enough info here. Does anyone know what the heck is going on??

You need to clean your throttle body. Its just normal maintenance. Throttle body cleaner is $5 at your local automotive parts retailer.

Its the metal part that connects the intake tube to the upper plenum with the circle flap inside. Its fairly simple. Just need a couple of screw drivers and a allen wrench set (Forgot the size) and the cleaner. Remove the intake tube, unscrew the four allen wrench screws that holds throttle body in place, unplug the power line from throttle body, take it out and clean with cleaner, then put it all back together. No more stalling. 1 hour job at most.

I'd be surprised if cleaning the throttle body fixes a starting issue. Not to say I have the answers for you. It could be a host of different things. If your battery was bad chances are a bad alternator is what caused the battery to die. Once they put in a new battery they probably said the charging system was fine. I wonder if they really checked the alternator properly. Post back and let us know what happened.

 

There is a DIY video on how to clean the throttle body if you search. I'm sure its in www.infinitihelp.com as well.

 

First and foremost I would check to see if the battery cables were installed correctly since you mentioned that the battery was changed. Always rule out the easy and obvious solutions. I had the same problem on my motorcycle and it turned out to be a loose positive cable.

 

hey having the same problem. it doesnt start on cold mornings and as the day goes on and temp rises. car just starts.... dunno man. she is angry with me now and she costing me.

 

any other problems that stems for cold start?

 

I wonder if this is a failing cam position sensor?
