I'm going to have them do it on the damaged side. If it's not too much, I'll get them to do the drivers side too. If it is too much for me to swing right now, I'll just 3M the moldings back to the shaved passenger side so it will match until I can save enough for the drivers side.

Ok... I ordered mine from oem.thing unpainted 1163mm, had it painted, and installed it perfectly flush against the back edge of the trunklid... Because of the taper of the trunk, it would have probably set closer to each edge if I hadn't followed the curve of the trunk so closely, but I felt it needed to mount that way.

This left almost exactly 6mm gap on each side (not really bad, but not perfectly flush)

So, just to err on the side of caution, I would round down to 5mm on each side, and say the "perfect length" should be: 1163 + 5 + 5 = 1173mm.
This left almost exactly 6mm gap on each side (not really bad, but not perfectly flush)
