This kind a sucks. Improvements are bound to happen but 38 HP is a big jump, almost a 15% increase without altering the displacement. Impressive (if the pre-’05 models have not been underrated)!

What is cool is that the G35 sedan will still be up there with the 300HP ’05 Mustang, though it will lack some torque.

To the premium fuel speculation: In the 05 manual, it does NOT say it requires premium fuel. It's the same requirements as 03/04.

 

I am sure that 38 hp is a typo guys when they say everywhere else 277 hp.

Not sure if its a typo, was talking to stillen about my front caliber kit and he was the one who told me the new sedan was getting 298 hp. but anything is possible. It would make more sense the sedan was only getting 277. after all doesnt make sense the sedan gets more hp then the 350z.

I got the 04 cuz I thought 277 from 260 is more of a marketing reason...but 38 extra hp? That's insane. I suspect exhaust is one of the biggest loss of power for the sedan and an upgrade in ecu is also possible. I wonder how the fuel economy will be affected.
Also a neat upgrade for 05 is the larger diameter of the sway bars. I guess there is no need to go aftermarket for them.

Many people have always said that for some reason, Infiniti purposely underrated the G35 Sedan's 260 HP rating (present & past models), although I'm not sure why. However, whether they did or not, most are betting that the increase in HP and Torque are either just an increase on paper or from a few slight changes in the ECU programming, exhaust, intake, etc. We'll know for sure soon when the '05's come out and when the car mags test them, but don't beat yourself over your head about it...you still have one fast and cool car! ;-)

dammit im kinda sad right now...i coulda waited for an 05....o well...i just HOPE its easy to get those extra 38 poines....please be a simple ECU upgrade!....crap im bummed....im really jealous of the people who get to buy the 05....i really like the 18 inch wheel packae idea....

I would suspect the '05's 277 hp are more of marketing hypes. But the 295 hp for mts should be geniune. They might have shared the same engine components with S-spec V35 coupe and S-spec Fairlady in Japan, since the HP rating for these S-specs are the same as the upcoming 6speed Gs. Upgraded ECU, more aggressive camshaft, plenum, and minor adjustments.

 

Why would you think it's a typo? It came right from the source, just like the preliminary number of 277 came right from the source. It's "everywhere else" because that's the number that Infiniti revealed to the public almost 3 months ago. Now the revised numbers will be "everywhere" soon.

 

He's just sore because he only has "260hp" =D Just playin... Anyone think the new sedan and coupe and get 13.7?

04 Coupe Auto/DG/Prem/Nav/Perf

 

When I last drove a G35 Coupe (having decided against purchase of a G35 Sedan based partly on their implementation of the Man-U-Matic concept) I was struck by how different the behavior of the automatic in manual mode was on the Coupe. (And better – for me.)

Does anyone know if the ’05 Sedan now has the same or similar behavior?

Both of them will def. break 13's, the 350z whihc is lighter but also will have 11 less HP, the track version is getting 13.7's from the factory and if the sedan is lighter than the coupe again it might even be quicker than the coupe 6spd vs. 6spd!!
