Re: 5AT Sedan, chirp 1st to 2nd?

I've gotten my 6MT to chirp into 3rd on numerous occasions. I had a 2000 TL back in 1999-2000 that would chirp going into 2nd but it was front wheel drive - pretty good for only 225hp.

Yes, but it's a manual, not an automatic.

Yes the G35 is a manual, but the TL is auto only. I wasn't sure which car you were referring to.

The subject is talking about getting a 5AT sedan to chirp. Reprogramming a computer wouldn't affect a manual transmission, anyway, unless that computer were implanted in your brain or left leg.

Re: 5AT Sedan, chirp 1st to 2nd?

I can get my tires to chirp. This is not an impossible mission. At 5700 I shift out of 1 into 2. The tranny lags and the RPMs rise into the 6s and the tires give way-Turanzas what do you expect. I also keep my rears at 36 PSI fronts at 33. Try this through a cross walk and the engine will want to stumble. Please remember that road surface has alot to do with barkin' the dogs. Yes I kept VDC on...I know someone will ask

This may have been asked not sure but is there a way to reprogram the shifter to work faster and crisper?

Ahhh...you're bein' mean. Makin' him read the entire post. There seems to be no way to make the shifts better...yet. We might see some crafty people figure it out here or at Nissan or a Tuner.

Re: 5AT Sedan, chirp 1st to 2nd?

For the autos, there is something calls a valve body upgrade, which basically upgrades the transmission. This supposedly makes the tranny last longer, while eliminating the lagginess of the auto. Result: firmer shifts.

I had my I30 done by a shop in LI. Still doesn't chirp 1-2, but I heard some of the lighter Max's chirp.

Re: 5AT Sedan, chirp 1st to 2nd?

Increasing line pressure can be good for performance. It takes away your buttery smooth shifts. It is a trade off...If there is even a kit for our 5 speed autos. B&M might make a kit if you call them-most likely not but they are venturing into the SCC market with Holley's guidance.JDM here we come

Re: 5AT Sedan, chirp 1st to 2nd?

Almost forgot, you also have to add a transmission cooler. The upgrade adds a lot of extra heat to the transmission. I am pretty sure that the shop can do it on the G. If anyone lives in the NYC area and is interested, I can give you info on the shop.
