350 Intake

So, I'm new to this group.

What is the advantage of replacing the 35 intake tube with the 350z.

Is it just a few more ponies or better sounding??

Yep...both!!! Just do it!!! Probably the G35's best bang for your buck mod.

Re: 350 Intake

After hearing all the praise about the Z-tube and JWT Pop-Charger, I finally purchased the stuff last month. I am definitely impressed. A substantial enhancement to my driving experience.

The intake sound under load drowns out my stock exhaust. Though I don’t have the empirical data, the car does feel quicker.

In case you were going to ask, the Z-Tube provides a straighter air intake path and has no silencing chambers.

Re: 350 Intake

None of the above. They're talking about a stock 350z intake tube, which is between the plenum and stock airbox. It's a quick and cheap drop-in replacement that gives you a little bettern airflow. Since it's a stock 350 part, and many 350 drivers are putting kits like the ones you linked on their cars, you could possibly get a used stock tube for under $40.

Re: 350 Intake

Can a Z tube be installed retaining the stock air box, or would that defeat the purpose?
That mod is next on my list, but I want to take it one step at a time.

Re: 350 Intake

Where do I find these items for sale? I went on my 350z forum and could not locate any in the for sale section.

Re: 350 Intake

I also added a K&N drop-in "High Flow" filter to the stock airbox -- another $30

Best first mod(s) in my opinion.

Re: 350 Intake

Is this a DIY install? I'm a little overwhelmed when I open my hood. I did install the battery cover with no problems.

Re: 350 Intake

All that's needed is a philips screwdriver and some elbow grease.
The air filter is removed by "unlocking" the radiator and undoing clips on airbox. The tube is removed by loosening the "hose clamps and wiggling out. Unlocking the radiator gives much more play in everything.

Took me 15minutes.
