Making the switch

Tomorrow I pick up a new car. The G35 is not going far, gonna be my wife's car, and I am taking ownership of my new GTI. Well not new, but new to me. Its an 07. It really is bitter sweet. I love my G, but my girl needs something safe and the AWD G fits the bill better for her. Best of both worlds for me now though. Just had to share my excitement. Im sure many of you dont like the GTI's, but their good on gas, fun to drive, relatively inexpensive, and make decent power for cheap. To top it all off I got it for less than any 07 GTI being advertised on autotrader or ebay in the country. Should be a fun little car.

Oh yeah one terrible thing about the GTI though, their forums are filled with too many jackasses. Makes you really appreciate this site. They think GTI's can beat anything and they have a kill section in most, due I need to say anymore that that. Its horrible, I wish G35driver could make the switch with me. haha.

please post back on how you like it. did you get a DSG model?

When the new MK6 out, i'm hoping for mk5's to be a little cheaper. I might get one as a GTI fits my bill better then my X.

Too funny Nfsp1. So I picked up the car today. I got the 6 speed, not the DSG. The DSG seems very nice, but I figured it could one day be a very expensive repair, plus chipped GTI's see more power on the manual version. Today I got around 30mpg highway driving, and so far loving it (granted my opinion is still very fresh). The car is surprisingly quick. Very subdued when driving normal, but when you get on it, it wants to go.

As far as MKV prices falling, I got mine for a great deal. Too good to pass up. I think you'll see the prices falling now that the Golf R is on the way.
