deal or no deal? slammed 03 with mods

not really slammed but lowered with nice rims, CAI and headers and some other mods here and there, owned by a mechanic 2nd owner, rebuilt tile, 92k miles. asking price was 8900, i asked lowest he said 8k, so i think i can get him down to 7k in person considering its a 03 sedan and its a rebuilt title and has alot of miles

btw with 92k miles, what problems would i be looking at it in the future, and when is the next time it needs to b at the dealer

Interesting, I have never seen an 03-04 with an 05-06 front bumper and grill. I thought that the headlights, fenders, and/or hood would also have to be swapped out for it to fit properly.

^That guy is not a very knowledgeable mechanic if he told you that G is making 300hp with just a CAI, headers and exhaust, at least not at the wheels.

^+1 and actually if you look around, quite a few people have 05-06 front ends on theirn 03s. And if it requires hood, fenders, etc, then that probably means it was just mangled in an accident to need all that replaced

I'd avoid that like the plague. If you honestly cant afford a better one for 10k with a clean title, and the same/less miles, (and i know, iv been shopping for them with my friend) then you shouldn't be buying this caliber of a car.

well my spending limit is more than 10k lol, i was actually looking for a coupe this whole time and stumbled by this, i got like 6600 and my parents will help with the rest, i just dont wanna make them spend so much, they prefer me to get one at a dealer but idk, im still leaning ALOT more torwars the coupe but this came up

No, No, No, and No. Clearly adolescent owned and abused. Rebuild title? Not sure how that will swing with insurance and registration. Did you check for w33d hidden in the seats?

Once you own a sedan, you will realize why we all own them. Everyone wants a coupe at first, but they settle for the sedan. And after a few months of owning it, modding it, and being on these forums, you will see why you made the right choice!

Id seriously look around. I have found a bunch of 8-10k that arent salvage titles and are stock (watch out for modded cars)

Not at the wheel he isn't. It's quite expensive to keep this car NA and get anywhere close to 300 HP at the wheel. He's guessing big time on the HP and doesn't have any idea of what it really is. My guess would be 260 tops, and that's being pretty generous. But not 300 and not 285. No way, no how. I'd stay away from it. The guy doesn't even know the correct color. There's no Midnight Blue Metallic. It's Twilight Blue. Unless he had it painted, which is all the more reason to run away.

A quick search of Autotrader shows there are a fair number of 2003's out there for around $10K with similar miles, clean titles, and much less likelihood they were abused. You can ignore all the dollar amounts he put in his ad other than the rims, because they're all either part of the initial repair or items that would normally be replaced at or before 92K miles. He doesn't get extra credit for putting rotors or tires on the car. And speaking of tires, if he put those tires on for $600, then they're very cheap tires. The cheapest set of 245/35-19 // 275/35-19 on TireRack is close to $750 before shipping and installation.

Don't buy this car. Take your $10K budget and buy something you won't regret later. You'd be much better off finding an Altima or Maxima with the same 3.5L engine than buying a questionable G35.

x14 I wouldn't touch this car, and this is coming from someone who just bought an 03 sedan w/rebuilt title a few weeks ago. Mine had nearly the exact same damage as this guy describes (no "frame" damage), but it was a one-owner driven by a mature lady, 1000% stock. Also, it was repaired by my family's body shop. That made it worth the risk to me. $7,500 with 108k miles. Just looking for a cheap, but high quality car. I keep the highway warm, so I'll double that and then some.

Run away from this one...rebuilt and modded...too many strikes. If you do end up doing it, FWIW, no issues for me with the insurance and registration, but YMMV in FL. If you ever wreck a car that's already salvage title, the insurance co will try to pay less, but ask them did they charge you a lower premium due to the lower value of the car? Didn't think so...
