EDIT: Beat me too it. This is an issue you might want to have your dealer look at. This sounds pretty similar to what happened to our 04, and as i recall, it was quite expensive to fix.
I don't like the sound of expensive but at the end of the day I"ll have to fork it over and move on. Do you recall approx how much the repair was? Are we talking hundreds or thousands?

Definitely, hoping this is not the case.

Yea, our car was the first that had this happen to it. They had NO idea wtf was going on. It just started making this weird buzz noise form under the hood, the slip, ABS, and CEL came on, we lost the VDC, and ABS, it just stopped.

What ever happened with that?

Just got the call from the dealer, they claim its the transmission. They took apart the oil pan and found metal debris and are quoting $4,700 for the repair. Looks like its time to source a used transmission and get it installed elsewhere.

Are the same year 350Z/G35 AT transmissions interchangeable?

So far I'm looking at a low mileage used transmission for $1,000 plus labor, so $1600 total wouldn't be out of the question.

I'd definitely go check out the amount of debris in the pan. It's pretty common to have a bit of debris in there. All the issues you're having seem to be pointing to an electrical one, not a transmission one.

Yeah it seems a little bit weird that a little bit of metal could affect all those different things. It may just be me but for some reason that doesn't sound right.

I wasn't able to see the debris prior to the dealer putting it together. They claim the fluid was burned and the debris was significant. I also asked if an electrical issue could cause the transmission to behave in a way that would damage it and they said no. I've sources a transmission locally for $800 and looking at install prices now. I'm thinking parts plus labor won't be more than $1500.

$6200 later, the dealer fixed it. They replaced a whole bunch of systems. I forget which.

The car is getting towed from the dealer to another shop right now, I've got a deal worked out with parts and labor totaling $1300.

I had issues with my engine shutting down at certain RPMs. The problem was found to be a crack in my flex-plate. The mechanic said he has never seen one go bad in a Nissan automatic transmission.

I wonder if it was from me downshifting/upshifting the car manually. Anyone damage their automatics doing this? I am just curious.

I thought I'd give an update and let you guys know that the replacement transmission is working correctly and none of the prior issues have surfaced. The shop actually installed an 04 transmission which was identical except for the transmission fluid dip stick which is a different fit. They also verified what the dealer stated with the fluid looking badly discolored. Parts, labor and fluids all totaled $1400.
