DCA is usually not on all DMM's....at least up to 10A

The symbol for DC is a straight line on top with 3 dotted lines under. AC will be a wavy line. You need a meter that also measures usually up to 10A DC current.

EDIT: I did find this cheap meter which does DCA up to 10A for under $15

My opinion...if you are gonna work on cars at all, a DMM that measures DC current is a good thing to have

This one?

Unfortunately it only does milliamps. You'll need to find or borrow another

Ok thanks. that is the one i have. Everything seems to be acting normal right now. I fly out tomorrow so when i get back in we will see if battery is dead. If it is dead ill look to get a meter to check the draw.

^+1. Looks like a good deal to me.
Having a decent multimeter is a must.
Actually, I think I got my craftsman for $25 and it does 10A too. Might have been a sale though, I don't remember.

A decent DMM with amps would also have a replaceable fuse in it. Worth the tad bit extra to have that safety feature.
