Exclamation Look at these repairs! Unbelievable...

Brought the car into the dealer to get a TSB done and had them check out the car to see if anything needed to be repaired. Check this out. Now, I understand some stuff such as the wiper blades are not critical, but look at some of the other repairs and assocated costs... What do you think I should I get done? Should I get some things done at Infiniti and others at a local shop? Anything I can do myself?

front wiper worn 22
airfilter 60
Brake fluid flush 140
power steering fluid 140
alignment 150
collant flush 180
Splash shield missing 181
Drive belts cracked 220
tranny flush 230
Rear sway bar links and bushing 281
Left hand rear axel boot is leaking 493
Front brake pads and rotors. 565
Moaning noise, rear wheel bearings need to be replaced 1,031

I hope you have a local shop that you trust. Some of the charges seem a little high. Do you hear a moaning noise? I bet someone else will charge you less to do the wheel bearing and replace the rear axel boot at the same time and not double gharge you for labor. Most of the cost on your list is for labor. At $90/hr you would be paying for 2 weeks of labor.

The wheel hub bearing assemblies I can do myself. It's simple bolts that need to be removed and replaced. I think I can do everything given there is a a DIY video/ write up on this forum, but I can't fix the steering rack and no idea about the axel boot. I've never even heard of repairing them. Anyway, I'll be selling my coupe 19" rays for moola now.

alignment 150 What's off? Tires have odd wear? Are you lowered?
collant flush 180 Good idea. Have them do it.
Splash shield missing 181 Buy it and DIY.
Drive belts cracked 220 Cracked or missing ribs? Cracked is fine. Missing ribs on the belt is not fine. DIY for $60 and 1 hour of time.

tranny flush 230 DIY for $90
Rear sway bar links and bushing 281 DIY for $90 in parts and one hour.
Left hand rear axel boot is leaking 493 DIY for $200 if you have access to ramps, a large socket (22mm?) and breaker bar.
Front brake pads and rotors. 565 $565? WTF? DIY for $220 in OEM parts and 1 hour of your time.
Moaning noise, rear wheel bearings need to be replaced 1,031 Have an independant shop do it. I thought replacing rear wheel bearings on these cars was easy. I could be mistaken. I believe the OEM parts are $400.
Steering rack leaking 1,767 What's leaking?
Lower control arm, compression rod, and ball joints all front 2,613 Do you notice a driveability issue or noise. If the rods are sqeaking, hit them with some silcone.

some prices that they charge you are unbeleivable. i bet nissan will charge you a lot less then that but you should do some of it on your own.

It's a dealership. It's how they make money. Not everyone is mechanically inclined...so a lot of people pay.

Thank you very much Dave!

I'm not lowered and I got an alignment in December. It's under warranty for 6 months, so I can get that done for free after I replace my suspension components.

The brake job is much cheaper than even you quoted!

MYNISMO.COM
NISSAN OEM Front Brake Pads: 2003-2005 INFINITI G35 $48.00
NISSAN OEM Front Brake Rotors: 2003-2005 INFINITI G35 $83.40

I have no idea about the steering rack, but I'll be sure to research and check it out for myself.

I hit the rods with PB Blaster. My rear wheel hub bearing definitely needs to be replaced so I can do both with a socket set so long as I purchase the assembly which includes the bearing and the hub already bolted on as one piece. Thats around $120.

The rear axle boot is around $15, but what is the fluid inside that I would have to replace? Is it just grease? I could also hit the drive axle click problem all at once! Very exciting.

Thanks again Dave.

That's very possible. These places are privately owned under franchise. They can technically charge whatever they want. An alignment is an alignment though, you can have it done for around $70 if you shop around. What else have you had done by Nissan?
