Brakes *HELP* Attempted to change my parking brake shoes and this popped out...

I was looking for the piece that you rotate to tighten the parking brakes just to see if that would make any difference, but all I saw was this flathead screw (see pics). So I pushed it and it sprung out. How do i get it back in?? and why don't I see that piece to tighten the parking brake? Man this sucks... I also can't bang the rotor off for some reason. I took the brake calipers off. It should pop right off after that right? What am I doing wrong?

Looks like I popped the screw to the left (or right) out in this picture:

Thats just the rubber plug to hide the hole where you adjust the tension of pads. YOu rotate that hole up to top then turn the adjuster. Just shove that rubber plug back in the hole when done

Do you have the e-brake on? If so, release the e-brake.If it's still stuck....spray the center of the hub/rotor with some PB Blaster and let it sit for about 5 minutes. Then take a large screwdriver and insert it into the veins of the rotor and wiggle it back and forth. Do this a few times all the way around until the rotor pops off. It's rusted to the hub.

After you have it off, there is that screw with a washer attached to it as well as a spring behind it. You will see that at the end of the screw (no threads). Put the spring around it and push back into the hole (it will have some tension because of the spring) using a flathead screwdriver and give it a 1/4 turn.

Good luck

The thing you turn is the splined thing above the spring on the top of the pads (between them). You take out the rubber plug and use a flat screwdriver or something similar to turn it. You just force the robber plug back in when you are done.

Thanks guys. PB Blaster and a torch = wonders. Now my issue is getting this plate back on to what seems to be the e-brake cable pull. See pics. After this never touching my brakes again.

That's not what I turned. Whenever my rotor was replaced by Nissan they didn't line it up with the spline. Then lined it up with the one of the two spring loaded screws in the picture where you see the rotor removed. But I finally got the rotor off and its as simple has a push and twist that got it back in. Pretty shabby if you ask me..
