Exhaust

I'm sure this has been asked before....
Why does the sedan exhaust not sound as good as the coupe?
Shouldn't the sedan have the same noise?....i mean...even the FX has a better exhaust sound!!

Re: Exaust

The FX to me has a nasty fake exhaust sound, like you could tell its uhh fake LOL.... I love a meaty engine/exhaust sound combo such as my car, the coupe for some reason sounds so much better in stick than auto, i hate auto fx's and coupes, they sound weird same with 350z's!! If you want your sedan to sound more like a coupe but even better, get a coupe midpipe!!

Re: Exhaust

One of the reasons is the tube that connects to your air intake, its designed to reduce noise. If you put a 350z tube in its place you will notice a louder exhaust note from the sedan. Plus give you few more HP.

Re: Exhaust

The Z tube will for sure give you more HP and much better sound, but the addictive Z tube sound can only be heard above 3,500 rpm with WOT. I still don't know how to get an exhaust note closer to the G35 Coupe, FX35/45, or 350Z without an entirely new cat-back exhaust system. I agree that the G35 Sedan should have the same exhaust system as the G35 Coupe...it's a real bummer; I love the way our '03 FX35 sounds, but I love driving my G35 Sedan more. ;-)

Re: Exaust

Here's a diagram of the sedan exhaust system. Basically, after the catalytic converter the exhaust flows through a "y-pipe" followed by the "mid-pipe", and finally the muffler. The shape of the mid-pipe for the sedan as shown is shaped differently than the coupe. The coupe mid-pipe has a less aerodynamic, more rounded resonator. The coupe mid-pipe will fit on the sedan. It gives the sedan a deeper note. Hope that helps.
