Royal Purple Oil Concerns
Just a note, just because the oil itself can go X thousands of miles doesn't mean you should. If your engine is running running properly, you will contaminate it to the point where the TBN value is too low way before the that mileage comes up.
Only way to know is to get your UOA done.

So I want to do the oil change in my 2003 g35 coupe and I wanted to switch over to Royal Purple. My car has 177,000 miles on it and I'm not quite sure which Royal Purple oil would be best for my car. Can someone help. Tag some links to see oil if. Thamks
Is it using oil? How long will your change intervals be?
If it's not using oil, stick with the 5W30 recommended. If it's starting to use some oil go with 10W40 or even 20W50 in the summer and if it gets real cold where you live (less than 15 for over 24 hrs) go back to the 5W30 in the winter.

I just changed my oil + filter. Mobil synth. However, I am not driving that much these days. And it is riding season also. I put less than 1,500 kms on my G in the last 6 months. Now I am changing the oil based on time rather than mileage. I checked it recently, no loss, no drips, even had some colour left in it. Am I wasting money and adding to the pollution via used oil, or am I just protecting my G. It is a good car, 2003, 152,000 kms. I do not rip it up on this G, just the occasionally on the freeway to give it a run. I let my dealer wrench my ride, no big issue for me. Yes or know on changing the oil twice per year. Oh! While I'm here, how often does one change the brake fluid. I am using 5:30.
The main thing, when a car is driven as you describe, is to be sure that you run it for at least 20-30 minutes at least twice a month. You MUST get the water, fuel, and acids that get in the oil, cooked out to keep internal corrosion down. I don't have that problem with my pick up as I drive it 105 miles a day, five days a week. This lets me extend my oil changes out to 7500 miles. I have 150K on it now and it does not use ANY oil.
I cant believe its already been five years since I made this post! Its scary how time flies, isnt it? Anyway, Im still running RP in my rev up and it still only consumes about 1 quart per 3500 miles. No issues to speak of other than the suspension work (compression rods, lca, tie rod, end links, etc) I keep putting off and a random coolant leak I started experiencing the other day (pool of coolant near the overflow tank but no overheating). I must say, I have been very pleased with this car. 125k on the clock and hoping for another 50k relatively problem free
I wouldn't use anything besides german castrol. This is a great thread based on engine oil analysis. It's an oldie but a goodie.
