help! i have twin turbos and low oil pressure..
after a long drive or hard drive my oil pressure gauge drops at about 20 or little lower then 20psi and beeps at me as if its a warning. (defi gauges)
i have a twin turbo and ever since i got them installed plus the gauges the warning goes off when i am in idle, just at a stop. if i rev it the oil pressure goes up and warning goes off. how can i fix it so the warning wont happen? and is this bad that the pressure goes to ~20psi? after a long or hard drive

Do you have the manual? Might say how to adjust the low OP threshold.
for a lot of cars, 20psi is normal at hot idle, as long as it jumps up when the RPM's rise. I however don't have an OP gauge on my car, so i don't know if they ALL should behave like this though. Someone else will need to confirm OP behavior in these cars.

First check oil level and condition of oil. Crappy viscousity oil tends to thin out when heated. U probably did this already change your oil and see if this gets better.
hook up a mechanical gauge engine side to rule out defi oil sender/brain malfunction.
Built engine?
Burning oil?
Was oil added to compensate for turbo oil lines?

auto tranny, stock engine
the installer, dyno comp in az, didnt really tell me much and im only 18 and dont know too much unfortunatly.. it happened before so i changed my oil and i believe if i remember correctly put a thicker oil in it so it wouldnt thin out so much. but for some reason dyno comp, the TT installer shop told me my oil level will be at low. like the pan sits lower or something and the dip stick wont go all the way down, so basically when the dip stick reads low, it is full. if the dip stick doesnt read anything, it is low. make sense?
what oil would you recommend me putting in it?

ok well since u dont know too much about your setup, i would suggest only taking it to the people who do...dyno comp.
as far as the oil reading always low
im assuming a bigger pan or spacer??
again the specifics are only known by the builders... so only they have the answers to your questions.
low oil pressure in a good running car is bad.
things you can do yourself are..
> check if there is sufficent oil in engine. replace oil filter(maybe clogged).
because oil cannot be checked with a dip stick. do an oil change and measure how much comes out. note color and smell. check for oil leaks. look for kinks in oil feed and return lines. are u burning oil? check engine light on?
pull intercooler pipes and look for oil pools, check turbo fins for oil and shaft play. check all connections in the Defi system and make sure the sending unit/brain is functioning correctly. check for vacuum/boost leaks..these can affect idle. make sure the oil you have or about to use are ok with your climate and application.
the bad news...if any.
> low oil pressure is caused from excessive bearing clearence within the engine (main, crank etc). as these bearings move farther apart, the lower your pressure gets. the only fix is these bearings be changed out..
again...if you cannot perform any of these checks...please take it back to your shop and have it fix asap.
hope this helps. =)

please tell me how you manage to have a TT setup, big brake, and all the other add ons your running at 18? Whatever you are doing is right ! My bad for going off topic. Really like what you have done with the car. Good luck with the low oil pressure beyond what everyone already stated I have no suggestions.
