Anyone heard of someone trying out the ppe lth or powerlab lth. I've read these are higher quality than obx or megan lth. I am looking to install some long tube headers on my 05 6mt. Any input appreciated.Originally Posted by 03GT35R
I had OBXheaders on my first IS300 i had, and they were actually very good welds with nice thick flanges, I sent them to JET HOT & had them coated before installing & best of all they never cracked. That's why i looked up the PBX for the G35, cause i had good luck with them. Not sure what i will actually buy yet, still looking around & trying to figure out a good set up from headers all the way back to tip...

Not trying to be rude but please look around or use the search function for basic questions like these. A quick glance at the Exhaust section and you would have found this. Enjoy your reading.

Appreciate the link. Im not gonna lie I have literally searched and researched the numerous forums for lth info for somewhere around 60 hours while gaining a vast knowledge, but mysearches failed to expose that thread. But if anyone has even more info or first hand experience I always appreciate the input.

No worries, that's what we're here for. Glad you have done some reading, this forum IMHO is the premiere site for all things G.

The only long tube headers I have seen that showed real valuabler gains were the ones from Sasha...but he closed his shop and those were like $2200 for the pair.

BTW TexasNiceGuy - if you use ADVANCED search change to have it display results by RELEVANCE and save your preferences. It will save you headaches during future searches for info.

Ya I've heard wonderful things about Sasha's lth, and I didn't understand his rationale for closing. I understand that a good person doesn't want to rip people off, but if your customers want the goods- then laugh all the way to the bank.
A lot of shops I've been buying my parts from think it's hilarious I'm making an 05 g35 into gas efficient daily driver by upgrading the car with 2-3k in upgrades w/o going fi. But I did the same thing to an 05 v6 mustang and it went from 20mpg hwy to 30, while going from 215hp stock to 325 with all the mods. I love being able to haul *** and save an amount that's greater than my investment.

Best gas mileage I ever got was 29 MPG w/ my 5AT between Phoenix and Salt Lake City. It dropped after I changed rear gears. It seems to have dropped again with the ART pipes as well.

Well that's pretty good for auto, what speed and rpm? When I got mine doing 75-90 I was averaging 3200-4000rpm getting 23/25 mpg average. I put in the ztube, added engine damper, put on extended oil pan, plus gates race belts and got it up to 26-28 at same speed. I bought a kinetic ssv and a used 3.3 limited slip rear differential but haven't had the time to get the car on my friends lift to get it in. That's why I'm trying to find the right lth and possibly y-pipe to throw in and make a long badass day of it. Ive done the research to show that lth give lower rpm efficiency more than shorty/ test pipe combos. But I love the g and look forward to taking her from 95k to 300,000 miles with a fat *** smile the whole time. Originally Posted by Tolboothwilley™

Tollbooth I actually used your upgrades as a spring board when I started my research for initial upgrades, so I appreciate all the 2cents you've added.

haha, I've done a lot of variations of things to be where I am now
My trip from phoenix to slc was at pretty much 80-85 mph the whole way (3.3 gears at the time so around 2950-3300 rpms). Although there are lots of mountain ups/downs on that road. Before my tune and my Motordyne exhaust my best mpg on the same trip was around 26. But the tune i have (early ecu) only really helps with power not with efficiency since its a piggy back wired in.

When did your 3.3 gears did it help the mpg or help the wot Originally Posted by Tolboothwilley™

I plan to use the Osiris tune once these last 3 upgrades go in. But I do t want to mess with the tune until the mods are in... As to make stop modding once I get the tuner set in and ensure a happy cohesion between all the parts and also to ensure I don't have to replace any tb, sensors, wire sets, etc. Ultimately the goal is to get the car to get 30/31 hwy mpg at 80/90 mph so I can take my trips between Dallas and panama city beach on 4 tanks or less and do it in 12 hours versus 16hours at Eco-drive rates would require at this point in time. But I love the 20 gallon tank, can drive that beast for ever between fill ups
