EL Long tube Install?
EL Long tube Install?
i searched and cant find anything on here about if anyone has these headers installed on a g35 sedan...Has anyone installed the OBX-Racing EQ Long tube headers? If so, does this delete the cats? These look like they replace the l/r side cat pipes and bolt to the y-pipe. If you have these installed let me know...

sounds better then test pipes do
i bet they make a good bit more power
my concern would be the level of dificulty of a LT install on a g35 coupled with the poor quality of megan and obx parts.
ive tried a couple of obx headers in the past and a megan racing test pipe
first obx header was for my 03 sentra se-r, seemed decent, fit pretty well, but i didnt have it for two long
I put an OBX race header on my rsx after the flex pipe on my dc sports race header cracked twice and the vibrant race header didn't fit properly, the obx race header ended up cracking too but im not sure if i blame obx or the rsx's excessive wheel hop. they sent me a replacment(that was a nightmare, they tried to tell me the header i sent back wasnt an obx so you dont want to deal with their warranty department)
as for megan, I had a megan test pipe on my rsx, the fitment sucked and it also cracked, but basically everything you put in that spot on an rsx seems to crack..lol. Megan was a much better company to deal with from what i remember though, I just sent them a picture and they sent me a new test pipe at which point i sold the cracked test pipe for like $30 and the new one for more.
But switching the header on an rsx is a piece of cake once you get used to it, from what i hear the G is a royal pain and I wouldn't my headers to crack and have to go through the whole process over and over.
I think I have a megan y-pipe on my G(not really sure what it is, but it looks like megan) and it has been rewelded so it probably cracked at some point too but again i dont care because its just a y-pipe and its not hard to change it.
I think there is a misconception that OBX is much worse then Megan though as far as build quality...from what I've seen obx's welds look better then megan and their stuff fits fairly well. It would be nice if a middle of the line company like dc sports would make some long tubes for the g so people didn't have to settle for this garbage

I had OBXheaders on my first IS300 i had, and they were actually very good welds with nice thick flanges, I sent them to JET HOT & had them coated before installing & best of all they never cracked. That's why i looked up the PBX for the G35, cause i had good luck with them. Not sure what i will actually buy yet, still looking around & trying to figure out a good set up from headers all the way back to tip...
