CF Madness! --HELP--
CF Madness! --HELP--
So, heres the deal gentlemen (and ladies):
I have seen many people with CS hoods, CF Trunks, CF Roof Overlays, Painted Roofs, its madness..I have so many options.
I went to see my body guy who is AMAZING at painting, here is his profess opinion..
He says DO NOT get a CF Trunk, they almost always don't align right.
He said, VIS CF Hoods are sketchy, anybody have their opinion on this?
If i get a cf hood, i should fade it to my body color (desert plat)
I should paint roof black.
I should paint the trunk black and fade a bit
(if i get cf trunk, i should def fade that)
This is all what he said, can anybody give me their opinion. again, I have a 2004 G35 6mt Sedan, Desert Platinum.
I am looking to drop about 6 k, but I have 2k wrapped up in a big akebono brake kit, and another 1200 in wheels and tires (a whole nother issue)
JUST so you guys know, I will be doing black wheels and most likely a chrome lip, which thus far matches my car.
HELP ME, pictures help!

The way I see it, you have two options.
Option 1 (And personally I think that's too much for a sedan)
If you MUST have a lot of CF, and you get a CF hood, get the trunk and go ahead and wrap the roof. Go with the Hikkatadori, and leave the top CF, but paint the back to match the car. No fading. At least it will flow from front to back, though again, I think that would still be way too much CF for the sedan.
Now, that being said....
Option 2:
What I would do in your case, is be a little more subtle. Get the Hikkatadori trunk, and have them do the lip only in CF (that'll save you a little) and leave only the lip part exposed CF, painting the rest.
There are two ways you could go about this. One is to make a clearly cut 'line' where the lip is, the other is to run the paint up the back right to the edge of the lip, and then fade in across the top of the trunk. Just make sure your paint guy does it right. One of the members here told his shop to do this, and they faded too close, and as a result there's only about 1/2inch of CF showing through, which somewhat defeats the look.
Anyway, whichever way, I would just do the lip of the trunk, and then add something very small to the front for balance. Either Hikkatadori Nismo front with CF ducts, or a CF splitter.
Then paint the roof black.
I think having only a very small amount of CF but evenly balanced on the front and back looks way more classy than CF everywhere. Also, with a CF hood, wrap, and trunk all done by different people, you run a huge risk of it not matching, or fading at different rates.
Edit: also, you could still work in a CF hood if you really wanted too by painting the entire thing DP, then leave only the vents CF, and fade the last vent (toward the windshield) into DP

Sounds classy, and that's what I am looking for. How is the quality and fitment of these brands. I have never worked with CF and I don't know what I am looking for. I want quality no e-bay crap!
also ash, has anybody done this look before on the sedan? (would you happen to have a picture or name of the member here?) I think I like your idea, and if your interested, I will keep you posted.
Just so everyone knows, I will also be doing the akebono big brake kit and looking at some bbs style 19's in black i believe...any input there?

Also, this is the Hikkatadori trunk, so you can see the fitment
Everything I've heard about them says fitment is top-notch.

The hikatadori I haven't seen in person, but the photos I have seen have all looked pretty good. The fitment seems to great.
VIS parts that I have seen and worked with have been pretty good.
Sorry for being a forum noob, can anybody send me some links to where I can order the things I need? I like the Hikkatadori trunk idea, with a CF lip that will be faded in. I want a CF hood that I will mostly have painted, havn't been able to find if Hikkatadori makes one as well. And I will be painting the roof and adding some dope wheels and tires along with my big brake kit. I will have everything done hopefully in the next month, so I will show some pics then! But please, post me some links!
