I have 2006 G35 with 49K miles on it, I am getting an extra 4years and 48k miles infiniti elite extended warranty for around 2k with 0$ deductible, is it a good price?

i have a 06 and i bought mine with 28k miles and got a full 100,000 mile drive tran warranty for around 1400 bucks so I'm good all the way to 128k miles ...

They base the prices on the mileage of the car at time of purchase - I paid $1300 for that 48mo/48k for my '06X with 28k miles - they did tell me that if I waited until after I passed 30k miles the price would go up a couple hundred - but I think you may have some negotiating room with the dealer if you didn't pay yet....

FYI - the elite warranty is almost a bumper-bumper plan - it is quite a bit more expensive than buying only a drivetrain warranty...

That's not an Infiniti Elite Plan. They don't offer anything like that. At least they didn't the last time I checked. Unless it was a CPO, the best they offer is a 48/48 plan, which could be purchased if the car had less than 60K on it, taking you out to 108K, and it would have been a bumper to bumper (more or less), not just a drivetrain.

If yours is just a drivetrain, you kinda got ripped off. $1400 for what is basically a 60K extension on your original 70K drivetrain warranty is pretty pricey, especially when you consider how bullet proof the engine and transmission already are on this car. You may also want to check the details on your warranty and make sure it's actually adding 100K in coverage versus only taking you up to 100K.

OP, I'd shop around on that price. Any Infiniti dealer can sell it to you, so you might find it for a few hundred cheaper.

True - looking at the chart - I do not see any "power-train only" options - but as far as extending Infiniti's warranty, or buying the Elite service agreement, there are only 2 options with 100k mileage.
1) CPO - which brings the mileage to 100k total or 84 months from original purchase date of first owner...
2) New Car Plan - you just bought the car, less than 6 months ago, and it still has less than 6k miles, you can extend up to 84 months / 100k miles - but this would still only go to a max of 106k miles.

The longest used car, non-CPO, plan available is 72 months / 82k miles if car is less than 20k miles - so that would go to max of 102k....

I was under the impression that the CPO warranty only extended you out to a max of 72 months or 100k, whichever came first. The Elite was an add-on of additional coverage, $0 deductible, and another 12 months, but no additional miles.

I believe you- I think the questions are related to which type of plan you have - you said it was power-train only - and I was listing the info of everything except for the power-train plans - I don't have the power-train only info here, just the CPO & used-car plans....

So back to my question,

is $1866 a good price with 0$ deductible for 4years/48k miles? infinite elite extended warranty?

does it cover your clutch or your manual transmission?

Elite: correct, it is an add-on, but there is a whole menu of choices. Depending on the year and mileage of the used car, you can pick from anywhere from 24m/24k all the way up to 72m/82k, with $0, $50, or $100 deduct...

And again, I am not referring to power-train only, I don't have that info...

As far as the $1800+ for 48/48, I think you have room to negotiate that down a little bit with the dealer - my understanding is that there is a dealer markup of a few hundred $$$, which leaves room for negotiations..

According to the Infiniti website and what I was told when I bought my car, CPO is 72 months or 100K.

I'm not familiar with all the different Elite options, but the website states that the Infiniti Elite Extended Protection Plan provides an additional year of coverage, $0 deductible, expanded component coverage, expanded roadside assistance, and is fully transferable. This is in line with what I was told when I purchased the Elite add-on. It must be different if you are buying the Elite plan without it being CPO.

As for the OP's question regarding the $1,800...I'm not really sure how that compares to what I paid because the CPO was 'built into' the price I paid for the car. I paid an additional amount for the Elite add-on.

Only Infiniti models less than four years old and with under 60,000 miles qualify for the program, and then they must pass a rigorous inspection. So when you take delivery, your Certified Pre-Owned Infiniti includes a 72-month/100,000 total-vehicle-mile warranty, roadside assistance, trip interruption benefits and towing assistance.

most cars dont need that much maintenance to make up the cost of the warranty.

rare cases sure it will pay for it, but sometimes you need to pay a deductible.

Ive heard stories that some warranty companies only cover certain parts and not everything, even if the warranty states it does.

Electronics usually arent covered, including fuel pump and such.

If you have tools,a place to work on your car, and some general knowledge of cars you can do most of the work your self.

The only thing i can think of that will cost that much is a motor and/or tranny and unless you go crazy with them, you should be good for 100k miles plus.

example:
If a window motor goes out you can go to autozone, buy one, and get it on your car in an hour. less than $100. or you can take it to the shop and hope its covered under warranty and waste a few hours.

what I do and recommend is that you put some money in an account or in a can in your yard for your car.

I would put whatever your warranty is costing you a month into that can, and if you need it use it, I bet you wont use the money.
